The view from the left parts ways with reality

Reading my Facebook feed is like a trip to Bizarro World because leftists have a very tenuous connection with reality.

I had a dandy time reading my real-me Facebook feed today because the connection between reality and what my leftist friends write is so tenuous. I suspect that, just as they were shocked in November 2016 that Hillary lost, they may (God willing) be equally shocked in November 2020 that Biden lost. Let me just share some of the crazy talk with you.

My favorite example of the absence of reality is that all these people have picked up on Biden’s repeating (again) the “fine people hoax.” (Scott Adams explains here.) What they don’t realize — and may never realize unless we push it to the foreground — is that Richard Spencer, the vile anti-Semitic, racist, neo-Nazi has endorsed his chosen candidate:

You’ve got to love it that Biden, who has incessantly and falsely claimed that Trump called neo-Nazis, including Spencer, “fine people,” just got Spencer’s endorsement. We need to make this very, very public.

Then there was the mourning and hysteria about Melania’s do-over of the White House rose garden. To appreciate the crazy, you have to know that Melania went out of her way to respect Jackie Kennedy’s 59-year-old plans:

The renovations in the half-acre verdant expanse — which is about 125 feet long and 60 feet wide – will include electrical upgrades for TV appearances, a new walkway and new flowers and shrubs, according to The Times.

Melania plans to make the garden more resemble the original design of the site established by President John F. Kennedy, and implemented in 1962 by philanthropist and horticulturist Rachel “Bunny” Mellon, CNN reported.

The project will be supported by the National Park Service and funded by private donations – and should take three weeks to complete, according to The Times.

A limestone walkway will be added to the inner perimeter of the garden, crab apple trees will be replaced with white rose shrubs, and new drainage systems will be installed, according to a landscape report submitted by the preservation committee and shared with The Times.

White “JFK” and pale pink “peace” roses also will be planted, the outlet reported.

The leftist blogosphere, however, went bat guano crazy. (You can see examples here, here, here, here, and here.) Working in lockstep with their thought leaders, those leftists whom I know on Facebook promptly went crazy too. To show that they were classy and sane, they insisted that the problem was that Trump’s foul wife destroyed Jackie’s garden. I trolled them by expressing shock that Melania, after promising to use Jackie’s original plans, would have deviated from them. Perhaps it will make someone think.

Another example of crazy was the response to news that Kellyanne Conway is leaving the White House at the end of the month. This isn’t a surprise at all, because it’s clear that her 15-year-old daughter is either an awful, spoiled brat or is reflecting a deeply damaged household. George Conway is also withdrawing from the anti-Trump Lincoln Project. That the parents were spending all their time trying to destroy each other politically suggests that the 15-year-old had a valid claim. Kellyanne published a nice farewell letter:

I wish the Conways well. That was obviously a very unhappy family and the parents need to make things right. I know of other families that needed mom to stay home for the kids’ good, so I applaud Kellyanne for making that choice.

Anyway, my whackadoodle lefty friends are claiming that the Conways know that Trump’s about to lose the election. According to them, both Conways are unprincipled grifters and they’re jumping ship so that they can position themselves to write tell-all books about the Trump White House. It’s clear that my friends have no idea that George Conway despises Trump and supports Biden. Facts don’t matter when you have a good theory.

Meanwhile, my friends on the right find it disturbing that the terrorists attacking police in Portland are throwing balloons full of fecal matter, something that I consider to be potentially lethal germ warfare. They find even more disturbing that not a single person on the left has expressed concern about this problem.

They note that it’s probably because none of the leftists know this is happening. They live in a New York Times, Washington Post, CNN, and MSNBC cocoon in which none of this nasty stuff is ever mentioned.

Some of my friends are donning their useless little cloth masks and going out to protest Orange Man Bad. Since they live in the Bay Area, their protests are taking place before an audience that agrees with them completely. They’re also protesting in a place that’s destroying the economy, but letting people gather to make redundant points. I’d like to think that the people seeing their livelihoods wiped out are beginning to contemplate voting a Republican slate.

And that’s all I’ve got for now. Pardon me for not writing more. I had an unsettled night, thanks to the fact that some seemingly innocuous ant bites got infected, leaving me sleepless last night and tired tonight.
