The Bookworm Thinker of 4 Oct. 2021

Ms. Book W. Room, writing under the nom de guerre of Andrea Widburg, is employed by the conservative site, American Thinker, to edit submissions to the site and to write several daily posts of her own.  I will start linking to her posts on a daily basis for the followers of this blog.  Since commentary to the posts are restricted at American Thinker (long story), feel free to comment on the day’s offerings below.

Today’s Offerings:

Are the Russia hoax’s ‘big fish’ finally in John Durham’s crosshairs?

Of the many positions Kash Patel held during Trump’s presidency, his most important was as an aide to Devin Nunes when the latter worked doggedly to reveal that the Democrats’ Russiagate charges were a hoax coming from the Democrat party—specifically, from Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Given Patel’s insider’s knowledge of events, it means something when he appears on Maria Bartiromo’s Fox show on Sunday mornings and says that he believes that Special Prosecutor John Durham is on the verge of issuing some serious indictments against big players in the Russia hoax.

Patel’s predictions about Durham are the first thing that Bartiromo elicits from him during the interview: . . .

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people

One of the implied promises behind the Democrats’ endless (and escalating) efforts to destroy the Second Amendment and disarm Americans is the promise that murder will become a thing of the past—and, if not all murders, at least mass murders, involving more than one victim. However, in Florida, one man managed to kill three people with a baseball bat and a knife, as well as seriously injured another victim. The problem wasn’t the weapons; it was that a man angry after a fight with his supervisor started killing innocents with the weapons he had at hand.

If you look at the picture of Shaun Runyon that the Polk County Sheriff’s Office released, he looks like a nice man: Well-groomed, with graying, dark, curly hair, sparkling eyes, and an open smile. The construction workers and their families sharing a dwelling with him never knew that he “reportedly has a prior criminal history that includes out of state charges of strangulation, endangering welfare of a child, terroristic threats, DUI and more.”

Runyon’s criminal history may explain why, when he decided to kill, he didn’t have a gun. . . .

Biden’s not the only politician to use his office to turn a profit

Our American media has always been singularly uninterested in how Joe Biden, who has spent all but four years since 1972 in public office, managed to amass a fortune equal to at least $8 million, and possibly as much as $25 million (although he still managed to stiff the government of $500,000 in taxes). Biden, however, is not the only government official to get rich, very, very rich. An organization called the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists obtained a treasure trove called the Pandora Papers, showing how 35 past and present world leaders, as well as 300 other public officials, have amassed massive sums of money and hidden them outside of their own countries.

A lot of the money, of course, is in the hands of known oligarchs from Vladimir Putin’s circles. However, it’s not just the Putin gang that’s been making bank from politics. Here are just some of the things the Pandora Papers reveal: . . .

A souvenir-seeking Major General reportedly abandoned American allies in Kabul

One of the iconic images of America’s disgraceful retreat from Afghanistan was a night-vision photograph of Major General Christopher Donahue boarding a C-17 Globemaster III, the very last American paratrooper to leave Afghanistan. Square-jawed and upright, he looked like the personification of those brave Americans who fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan for 20 years. Red State, however, has exclusive information that Donahue is just as bad as the other Obama/Biden generals: He allegedly kicked 50-100 genuine American allies off the plane, leaving them to almost certain death, so he could load a big souvenir to take home. . . .

Illegal aliens harass and illegally film Sen. Kyrsten Sinema

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema has this crazy idea that she is responsible to all of her constituents in Arizona, that a nation needs to border integrity and security (and that’s despite her being pro-immigration), and that fiscal insanity will destroy the country she represents. Because of those beliefs, despite most of her social and political stances coming from the left, she’s now a heretic to her leftists, and leftists, like all fanatics, despise heretics. That explains why leftists followed her into the bathroom and filmed her there, conduct that is a profound privacy violation, very threatening and, in Arizona, illegal. . . .
