When an AP story falls apart, does anyone care?

My friend Curt, at Flopping Aces, opened the AP can of worms when he questioned an AP report regarding concerning a series of Shia militia attacks upon Sunni mosques in the Hurriyah neighborhood of Baghdad, Iraq. The reports painted the battle as a fiery bloodbath, with Iraqi Troops just standing aside and watching. The questions started when Curt figured out that the primary “witness,” someone purported Jamil Hussein, didn’t exist. Things only got worse for the AP as more and more bloggers, including Michelle Malkin on a trip to Iraq, started investigating this story. Surprisingly, though, AP sticks by its story — and this despite the fact that there is photographic and documentary evidence proving its falsity. If you want to see a good summary of the bad and the ugly in this AP story, and you want to watch to see of the AP Board of Directors cares, check out Confederate Yankee, which reprints a mail CY send to all the AP head honchos. It will be interesting to see if anything happens.

Thanks for this info, BW. I’ll be interested in keeping track of this one and will watch for your updates.
That was great BW and my thanks also for linking me to it. I still say are best bet to get MSM and the AP to get back to truthful reporting is to go after their advertisers. Tell them we no longer subscribe to MSM. Hit them where the most damage can be done their wallets.
