Reading recommendations

My morning is not going as planned. I’ve gotta run, so I’ll leave you with some reading recommendations.

The Watcher’s Council has its nominations up, and you really can’t go wrong reading any of the nominees.

Jonah Goldberg ruminates about Biden’s fatal use of the word “articulate” to describe Obama.

While it’s intuitive to us that some people are nice or mean, regardless of attendant mental health issues, it’s not intuitive when you’re in the profession. It’s therefore refreshing to see a psychiatrist admit this truth.

Christopher Hitchens takes on the “Civil War in Iraq” issue, which is especially interesting to me today, since DQ and I had a lengthy conversation about wars, civil or otherwise, in history, and how we define what kind of war they might be.

Paul Greenberg does a nice homage to Molly Ivins, remembering her when she was a Texas wit and not a Democratic hit person. (And yes, I know her politics were always way, way left, but her writing used to be so clever.)

Just as Hitchens looks at how we define the type of war at issue at any given time, Michelle Malkin looks at different ideals about heroism on the Left and Right.

And I’ve got to run. Have a great morning.
