Pride goeth before a fall

The very Junior Senator from Illinois, the one who lies, cheats and, as we now see, steals, thinks well of himself, very, very well.  His most recent act of self-aggrandizement (did I mention that he’s a narcissist?) is to appropriate the Presidential Seal for his own.  As you can see if you go here, Obama has used socialist iconography on the imagine (it’s those slightly cut, cartoony edges), but he’s retained the eagle, complete with shield, olive branches and arrows.  Oh, wait, did I say he retained the shield?  He didn’t really.  It’s his swooshing logo in lieu of the shield.  Then, where the Presidential seal says:  “Seal of the President of the United States,” our egomaniac in chief substituted “Obama for America,” followed by his web address.

Lastly, and really most offensively, where the President’s seal says “E Pluribus Unum” (”out of many, one”), which is both a reminder of America’s amazing and brave journey from British satellite to the first truly Democratic country in the world and the fact that the president is merely a representative of the people, Obama has substituted “Vero possumus,” which is Bob the Builder’s catch phrase (”Yes, we can”).

In other words, Obama has taken the Seal of the President of the United States, which is really the Seal of the people of America as personified in their elected President, and turned it into a semi-socialist (because of the iconography), tawdry, homage to himself.  Truly, the man has no limits to his ego.

I take consolation from the ancient Biblical admonition that Pride goeth before a fall.  I just hope that the inevitable fall, when it comes, is his, not the nation’s.

    Greetings:

Even more important to me than Senator Obama’s Muslim background is his psychological background. And yet, in this land of punditry, no one seems interested in exploring this aspect of his personality or should I say his persona.

It seems to me that he has been abandoned by both his birth parents, first his Kenyan father and subsequently his American mother, then separated from his male Indonesian parent. I cannot imagine that these experiences have not caused some level of psychological infirmity.

When I watch his public poses, chin elevated and staring off into the far distance, I see a little bit of Castro and/or Hitler. When I listen to his snappish responses, I sense a reservoir of anger that someday will bubble up to the surface. When I see him without his tele-prompter, I see a man who knows he is in deep water not knowing how to swim. When I think about someone who has participated in the Saul Alinsky “community organizing,” or manipulation if you will, I wonder what is really in the back of his mind.

Well written post. I was working on one myself after being enraged over the stealing of the Presidential seal, as I saw an evening chat show. Also, the nose up in the air stance of his makes me cringe.

Turkeyhead did a post on this, and he said nearly the exact same things as you, BW. I’ve yet to see this story, but it is quite clear that the Obama campaign, and Obama himself have gone down the road of becoming a cult, where Obama and loyalty to him is more important than policy and nation.

Sounds like another political novice from the past doesn’t it? Little Austrian guy, you know?……

I can’t tell whether I am more infuriated or disgusted at their change of the Presidential Seal.

Truly - what sort of mind set is required to even think about doing something like this??

And what’s next? Will Obama and his campaign decide that it is appropriate to redesign Mt. Rushmore? Will the dollar bill suddenly portray Obama’s bust? Uugghhh - I am just nauseated.

Please, please oh please don’t let Obama self-destruct before the Democrat convention.

I think it’s a prediction of where he’ll be next year. Not mush socialist about it.

    >>Not much socialist about it.>>

Helen…are you saying that Obama doesn’t adhere to socialist principles? Or that the logo has no socialist implications?

    Hmmm. Interesting…

Speaking of socialism…this was a good article:

Suek, I was saying that the logo has no socialist implications. I think Republicans overuse the idea of socialism in Democrats. Not to say there’s none, just not nearly the amount Republicans seem to envision. No Democrat sees Hitler as a role model. :-)

And to think, there is a very thin line between arrogance and confidence.

Helen, who does this Democrat see as a role model?

You are correct, Helen. There is a very thin line between arrogance and confidence. Obama is showing us just how thin of line that is.

His decision to pull this little stunt is disrespectful to the office of the president, the history of America, and the American people. Typically, people who become President always comment at some point how awestruck they are at the fact that they represent the American people and that they live in a home that does not belong to them but rather the American people.

That presidential seal does not belong to Obama, even if he does become president. The fact that he chose to do something like this even before he the American people have decided whether or not to honor him with the Presidency speaks volumes about him and how much he thinks of himself.

The Democrats repeat themselves: the first time as tragedy, the second time as farce.

Just cause Arafat and the AP aren’t called Hitler, doesn’t mean admiration for those two ultimately doesn’t end up the same.
