One of those days

Sorry about the blog silence.  I’ll just say that this is one of those days that saw me fall on the chocolate ice cream like a junkie on heroin.  Nothing bad happened today.  It’s just been an overwhelming day that had me bouncing from one thing to another like a pin ball — and the pace only accelerates through Friday.  As for Saturday, I’m planning on sleeping in until at least 8:00 (a.m., not p.m.).

One little thing, though:  I found amusing today that, as I walked along side a row of cars with Moms all lined up to pick up their kids, all of them were listening to the news on the radio.  (It was a warm day, so windows were open.)  And what were they listening to?  NPR, of course.  There are only four sources for news in my neck of the woods:  NPR, the New York Times, the Chron, and the New Yorker (with some people throwing in the WaPo for good measure).  They’re well read, but not well-informed.

Even if I can’t blog, though, others are, and I’ll leave you with the wonderful Watcher’s submissions to tide you over.

Book, no, they are not well read.

None of the media you mentioned is particularly well written or reasoned, therefore any consumer thereof is not particularly well read.

I’ve had it up to here with people who can listen to or read unctuously delivered material and not detect what supercilious bullshit it is.

I guess part of being a Bobo is convincing yourself that you’re really swell when you can nod your head in unison with your dimwit peers about how insightful and smart those folks at NPR are whenever they drone on about something or another.
