A corrupt Pennsylvania Democrat goes down in flames

More amazing than Vincent Fumo’s appalling abuse of office and general corruption is the fact that the AP article identifies his party affiliation the third paragraph!  It’s not quite identifying it in the headline, but it’s still pretty darn good for an AP story.

I found that via zeopundit, I believe.

It’s one example of those in the State Department, 27 years in the Foreign Service I believe, views Obama’s “smart” diplomacy vs Bush.

I’ll write more on this later, I hope.

Yech, Y. Did you take a shower after you read that?

If you happen to have read “Shadow Warriors” by Timmerman, you already know what that post makes clear – there were those in the State Department who were deliberately undercutting Bush’s efforts. Bush made a big mistake in not cleaning out that rat’s nest when he became president. I hope the next Republican president won’t make the same mistake.

I do admit that I got quite angry when she unashamedly repeated Russian and Leftist propaganda that the Georgian President was the one that “decided” when conflict between America and Russia would commence.

It is unconscionable that someone who calls herself a diplomat or foreign service officer, FSO, would be so blind to the realities of Russian aggression and war atrocities, historic war atrocities even.

When you fall into the habit, as she has, of describing policies that you like as “smart”, what then becomes the foreign policies that you don’t like and agree with? And this is called diplomacy? To automatically place yourself in a position where there is no compromise, for you are always “smart” and your policies are always “smart” while the opposition must necessarily lack this “smartness”.

That is what the Left calls diplomacy and that is what she accuses Bush of lacking. I believe we here in the real world understand that diplomacy has real military and economic and social consequences for people. The Georgian people are not a piece of food to be moved around by the likes of parochial and self-centered “FSO” in the State Department.

This is forever the divide between our world and theirs.
