The Watcher’s Council has spoken
When Queen Elizabeth I learned that her sister, Mary Tudor, had died, she quoted Psalm 118:23: “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” I’ve always admired the beauty of that phrase, let alone the fact that Elizabeth had Biblical quotes at her fingertips. Anyway, I’ve always wanted to say that — “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.” — although I recognize that the goodwill of friends, rather than the hand of the Lord, reveals itself in the fact that I won the Watcher’s Council vote this week.
