Exciting field trip Open Thread

I won’t be blogging until this afternoon, because I am going on a very exciting field trip with one of my children. I’ll tell you about it later — assuming, of course, that it is as exciting as it promises to be. If I’m bored out of my mind, you won’t hear a thing from me. Oh, and just to keep my excitement going, tomorrow I’m having lunch with an old friend who has spent his career in the military. I can’t wait to hear his stories.

Since I consider Oakland to be part of San Francisco, I find this report almost unbelievable! Of course, maybe Oakland isn’t as “San Francisco” as I think it is…!!

This is disappointing to me.
One of the movies I’ve been waiting for is ‘Inception’. Well, some of the stars of inception are in a YouTube video moment trashing Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin. In a manner where you just want to slap em.

Now, I don’t mind them being advocates of a cause. But when you unload on those who disagree with you in this kind of derisive, sneering manner, you can expect blowback.
Just as with Avatar, due to a purely political sneering putdown of those I admire, I will not be paying money to see Inception at the theatres. Perhaps I will pay for the $1 theater later in the summer.
I’m so disappointed. The girl’s sneering putdowns in particular, will make it difficult for me to enjoy the film.
A short addon… I want to be clear that I believe you can be an advocate of a cause *without* smearing those who disagree with you, and I’m fine with that.
I’m also not being hypocritical here. I’m harshly derogatory towards Obama, Pelosi, and Reid. But I fully expect those who admire those three to avoid benefiting me in any way, ie paying money to see a performance. Just as I will not support this movie monetarily because of what these actors have said, I’d fully understand supporters of Obama, Pelosi and Reid not supporting me either.
Have you checked out the anime rentals that are high in my recommendation, Mike?
They are producing good quality stuff, and none of them are political. Maybe cause they don’t know anything about US politics? heh
Mike, I wonder if a letter to the company that made the movie would do any good. Something along the line that while there is free speech in this country, free speech does not mean that I am required to fund those who trash my political views. I am therefore not going to pay good money to support a movie with an actress that trashes my political views.
That actress doesn’t realize that there are things in this world that do merit fear, and they are not named Palin and Cheney.
One reason that I haven’t paid money to see a Hollywood movie in about 10 years is the above, though a bigger reason is that I have lost interest in movies, and those few that I watch, I can watch them much cheaper at home on DVD.
They are scared to death of Palin and Cheney in the physical violence department. So it makes them feel good to say that it isn’t their fear they are worried about, but Cheney and Palin’s fear.
As if the Left didn’t wet their pants when they heard Palin kills wolves with rifles and how Dark Lord Cheney used shotguns on lawyers.
Yet, Palin and Cheney are some of the most pacific, sane, and rational members of our society. You should see how the Left reacts to real violent people that they can’t negotiate with.
Here’s a gut check. Ask the female actor how much she fears guns and bombs, then ask how much Sarah palin fears guns and how much Dick Cheney fears bombs. Then ask her, “and you think Sarah palin is afraid… of whom, you?”
