At New York City’s main post office, Head Elf Pete Fontana and 22 staff elves will sort 2 million letters in Operation Santa, which connects needy children with “Secret Santas” who answer their wishes.
Fontana, a customer relations coordinator for the Postal Service, has been head elf for 15 years.
“The need is greater this year than I’ve ever seen it,” he says. “One little girl didn’t want anything for herself. She wanted a winter coat for her mother.”

Congress is making me seriously angry today. They passed the horrible tax bill in the senate. It is a pork laden POS. All we get are the status quo on taxes for two more years while Obama gets to add another trillion to the debt. One small problem. According to the Constitution, all spending and tax bills are to originate in the House. Not that these people care what the Constitution, I was just pointing that out.
Oh, no, Mrs. Bookworm, certainly not a desert. A thunderstorm at night perhaps, if you absolutely insist — long periods of darkness puntuated by flashes of brilliance — but never a desert!
Something to amuse you.

So, Spartacus, it’s not just your brilliance and erudition I like so much. It’s your charm too. Bless you. I feel better now.
