What floats readers’ boats at the New York Times

This is the headline stuff at today’s New York Times:
Real news, right?
And this screen shot, taken at the same time as the above screen shot, is what the readers are sending each other:
One gets a sense that these “intellectuals” (for that is how NYTs readers see themselves) lack a certain gravitas.

Book, While I would like to be certain that the NY’rs are only concerned with the trivial social status stuff, in fairness I noticed the the timestamps of the articles are only about 15 minutes old when you took your screenshot. Not a lot of time for them to get to the most emailed page especially after a day of Saturday fluff. I would be curious at the end of the day though, that would be more telling.
It’s true, Mac, that the timestamps are recent, but the NYTs has been running similar stories non-stop for three (or is it four?) days now. The readers just aren’t interested in world events — which is, I guess, a “thank goodness,” because the NYTs seldom reports them honestly anyway.
Thanks Book. I don’t get to the times much so the context is helpful.
And this is the stuff (real word withheld) that publicly funded NPR thought worthy enough for the weekend edition.
On NPR’s “Weekend Edition Saturday,” Malley explained that the Arabs have been “humiliated” by not being able to control their own history because of the invasion of Iraq and “the fact that the Palestinians can’t get Israel to give them anything.”

It’s not just a problem with the NYT, Bookie. Yahoo trending searches have nothing to do with the Middle-East.

I now understand why Obama wishes high speed internet everywhere in the country.
The only things the Palestinians really want from the Israelis are piles of slaughtered Jews.
They want free bullets to do the slaughtering with. Don’t forget that.
In addition to free food, water, and electricity being supplied from Israel. Of course.
” and “the fact that the Palestinians can’t get Israel to give them anything.””
Sadie, surely this was atypo it sohold have said ” and “the fact that the Palestinians can’t get Israel to give them EVERYthing.””

The only surprise in the interview was that Robert Malley didn’t say it. Malley was Bill Clinton’s ‘go to guy’ that set up the Camp David/2000 Accord and what a set up it was!
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree….
The Washington Post, on August 7, 1980, reported the elder Malley was a founder of the Egyptian Communist Party and at the time was under investigation by French authorities for pro-Soviet activities.
