Barack Obama to supporters: Give me the money, dammit!

Those of us conservatives who are signed up to Barack Obama’s mailing list enjoy the emails we get requesting campaign contributions.  Up until today, each email has had a “hook” justifying yet another request for $3.  For example, a couple of days ago, Michelle Obama said people should pony up $3 because Obama stays up late working for the American people:

Every night in the White House, I see Barack up late poring over briefings, reading your letters, and writing notes to people he’s met.

He’s doing that for you — working hard every day to make sure we can finish what we all started together.

(I wish people would send me $3 for every night I’ve stayed up late working.  Mostly, I just get serenades played on the world’s smallest violin.)

When Obama picked a fight with the Catholic Church by insisting that Catholic institutions pay for birth control, sterilization, and abortifacients, the Obama campaign sent out innumerable emails that insisted that a $3 donation would protect “women’s health”:

As we count down to another critical fundraising deadline for this campaign, it’s important to remember this:

We always knew this election would be about two competing economic plans — whether we get to build on our progress or see it taken away.

But we had no idea we’d also be up against a social agenda that would roll back decades of progress, particularly for women’s health.

That means the consequences of this election will be felt in more ways than we’d counted on — and what you do this week will help decide what they are.

Will you donate $3 or more right now?

For those who were unmoved by the plight of women in Obama’s America, self-serving, fame-seeking Obama supporters were offered the opportunity to have their name in lights:

You deserve some recognition. And we can’t carve your name into the wall of this thing that we’re building — it’s bigger than that.

Here’s what we want to do:

Make a donation of $3 or more before March 31st, and we’ll put your name in the credits of Davis Guggenheim’s documentary, “The Road We’ve Traveled.”

This film is being used at field offices across the country to fire people up — because we know it’s one of the best tools we have. But grassroots supporters like you are the ones making sure our field offices have the resources they need to get the film out there.

And then, of course, there were the ubiquitous “meal with Barack” lotteries, the price of which has dropped to a meager $2:

Tonight at midnight, we’ll draw the first guest for Dinner with Barack.

If you enter today, you could be that person — and if not, you’ll be eligible for each of the other three spots as well.

That means your chances to win are never going to be better than they are right now.

If you’ve ever entered or considered entering this contest, now’s the best time to do it.

Donate $2 or whatever you can before midnight tonight to be automatically eligible to win that first seat.

Each plea has a talking point, one often tied to the headlines, whether the headline is a Romney speech, a Catholic Church statement, or a Supreme Court decision.  Sometimes the plea just boils down to emotions, as with Michelle’s heart-rending image of a tired Obama, bowed over his desk late at night, answering letters.  (An image interestingly at odds with a detailed New Yorker profile that depicts Obama as a rushed box-checker.)

As of yesterday, though, someone — the president or his campaign people — got tired.  Someone just didn’t have the energy or imagination to create yet another reason to justify demanding $3 from Americans buffeted by rising fuel prices, a contracting labor market, astroturfed racial strife, hot mic revelations about backdoor deals with Russians, etc.  So someone decided to cut to the chase.  The heck with justifications, excuses, and heart-rending stories.  Just give Obama the money, dammit!

Friend —

The last time I sent you a note like this, we were closing out 2011.

Today’s our first big political test of 2012.

If you can, please donate $3 or more before midnight tonight:

Thank you.

To Hell with that 3/4 gallon of gas you were planning on buying for your broken-down rattle trap of a gas-guzzling car. Obama needs cash and he needs it now!

I have to give the Obama’s credit.  Every time you think that they can’t sink any lower, that they can’t degrade the august White House any further . . . they do.

Book, I’m on the same e-mail list. I love the revolving cast of signers—Barry, Michelle, Joe, the hacks who run his website. What’s interesting is seeing the pattern you describe emerge, namely, the increasing desperation and discounting (from endless pleas for $3 to Barry’s current plea for $2).
I want this alliterate, nekkid, affirmative-action emperor laughed off the stage in November.

So they get money first for campaign from people. Then they use this voter power to force the rest of us to pay them more taxes.

How is this not a criminal organization people?

  • Spartacus

Maybe Barack could use these guys as the opening act at his campaign rallies.  (I’d say “closing act,” since that’s usually when politicians do their money pitches, but in Barack’s case, you want to catch everyone before they faint from being in the presence of The One.)

I like that last email!  Isn’t it great, how it starts out with the warm, friendly, salutation of “Friend”!

Reminds me of those envelopes I get in the US Postal Mail marked ‘Resident’.  My goodness, how they CARE!

Into the trash bin, letter marked ‘Resident’!  Into the trash bin of history, o sender of emails that are labelled, ‘Friend’!

If they get their requests down low enough, I can sent them my two cents’ worth.
Six years or so ago, I twice got a letter from the Democratic National Committee addressed to “leaders in the community.”  It  consisted of  a survey along with a  SOLICITATION  FOR FUNDS. I don’t know how I was designated a “leader.” Nor do I know why they solicited funds from me, as  I had last voted for a Democratic Party candidate for President in 1976. I ignored the first letter, but filled out and returned  the survey from the second letter.  I added some comments to the effect that given the foreign policy disaster the Democrats have been for the last thirty years, I would never again vote for  a Democratic Party candidate for President. [They may be able to get my vote from the cemetery in future elections, but I have no control over that.]
I have not received any more surveys nor solicitations for funds from the Democratic Party.

Mike…….I must be a little more important than you, for my mail usually says, “Current Resident”. Much nicer, don’t you agree? Makes me feel better about myself.

I haven’t received gimme spam mail in ages. I am wondering if it has anything to do with my comments when I hit reply/send and I’ve been downgraded to “occupant” on snail mail.

Snip from a online read about Mega Millions…

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign tapped into the widespread lottery letdown. It sent a fundraising email with the subject “Jackpot” that began: “Yeah, we didn’t either. So we’re still at.”

Amazing that millions lined up, lost millions for the chance of winning millions and all George Kaiser (Solyndra) had to do was donate to the beggar-in-chief and he got $535 million.

This doesn’t fit in any of Book’s 10 recent posts – nothing on Israel and Obama – so I guess I’ll pop it in here.

Most of you are likely aware that Israel struck a deal with Azerbaijan for airfield use – especially in the case of an attack on Iran.  How did you hear about it?  Because the Obama administration found out about it – or Israel stupidly told the Obama administration – and the Obama administration announced it to the world.

John Bolton recently called it a merciless action by the Obama administration against Israel, a supposed ally:

“I think the Obama administration has long believed that an Israeli attack was worse than an Iranian nuclear weapon,” Bolton told Fox. “The president says that containment and deterrence of Iran is not his policy, and I think today that’s true. But it’s his plan B, it’s his backup plan when his current efforts at sanctions fail, diplomacy fails, and Iran gets nuclear weapons.

“And I think the pressure the administration has put on Israel has been just merciless behind the scenes,” he adds.

So far, Bolton says, Israeli officials show no intention of backing down from what they see as the existential threat of a nuclear-capable Iran. But the Azerbaijan leak indicates the administration is upping the ante.

“So the Obama administration has torqued it up a notch, and now they’re going to reveal very sensitive, very important information that will allow Iran to defeat an Israeli attack,” said the former UN ambassador. “I think that’s what’s going on.”

One wonders how long it will take until all Israelis, and Jewish-Americans, view Obama as a 100% ENEMY of Israel.  It’s about time they pulled those rose-colored glasses off and took a good, hard look at reality.  Obama is an enemy of Jews.  And especially of Israel.  You can’t hide from the facts any more.  I’d thought that Carter was the worst anti-Semite that America could offer up as a President, against Israel.  I was wrong.  Carter is not the worst.  Obama is the worst.

It is impossible to imagine worse than Obama.

    Mike Devx

Add to your comments O’s “hot mic” comments to Medvedev. What didn’t we hear?  Obama isn’t just the worst – he’s the most dangerous.

Apologies, forgot to include this and “this” is a BFD.

The following is an excerpt from the official press release about this deal between ATK and the Department of Homeland Security….

ATK announced that it is being awarded an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) agreement from the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (DHS, ICE) for .40 caliber ammunition. This contract features a base of 12 months, includes four option years, and will have a maximum volume of 450 million rounds.

ATK was the incumbent and won the contract with its HST bullet, which has proven itself in the field. The special hollow point effectively passes through a variety of barriers and holds its jacket in the toughest conditions. HST is engineered for 100-percent weight retention, limits collateral damage, and avoids over-penetration.

‘We are proud to extend our track record as the prime supplier of .40 caliber duty ammunition for DHS, ICE,’ said Ron Johnson, President of ATK’s Security and Sporting group.

    Sadie’s quoted article:

<quote>We are proud to extend our track record as the prime supplier of .40 caliber duty ammunition for DHS, ICE,’ said Ron Johnson, President of ATK’s Security and Sporting group.</quote>

I’m conflicted on this.  Some of these inner-city gangs are not your garden-variety neighborhood group of thugs.  They instead are organized, extraordinarily violent criminal gangs.  Heavily armed, trafficking in narcotics, and not at all averse to horrific murders to enforce their criminal activities.  Anything DHS and ICE are likely to have, these worst of gangs too are likely to have.  So I don’t really mind that the government seeks the best weaponry possible; the criminals have it; it’s a shame the law-abiding citizenry can’t access it too, for the purpose of exercising our 2nd Amendment rights.
Now when it comes to our concern about the citizenry being able to stand up to real governmental tyranny, enforced by government military organizations heavily armed, well, it’s no child’s game and no lark.  “The tree of liberty must be sustained from time to time with the blood of patriots” Jefferson wrote, and there would be buckets of blood indeed.  But the resistance would have to be widespread and involve hundreds of thousands, and you’d have to have sympathizers and collaborators on the inside of the government helping out as well.  That’s just the way any resistance to real tyranny would have to progress.  (See many of the recent stories concerning the internal resistance groups within Iran, in that deadly struggle, for insight into how it would have to go.)

“Obama is an enemy of Jews.  And especially of Israel.”

The truth is that Jews are enemies of Israel. And Americans are enemies of America. Otherwise… we wouldn’t having our problems now would we.

“Some of these inner-city gangs …..”

There are a million plus gang members and the population of the US is over 313 million. Is Homeland Security/DHS expecting all of us to join a gang?

    Ymar #12:
    > The truth is that Jews are enemies of Israel. And Americans are enemies of America. Otherwise… we wouldn’t having our problems now would we.

Ymar, I think that many leftists are simply naive fools, and perhaps shouldn’t be judged with the same harshness that you might judge a lot of the deliberate deceivers, propaganda artists, and activists who DO deliberately seek to destroy the West and everything we stand for.  What do you do with millions of naive fools?

I know because I was one of them.  Until 9-11, I was one of them.  Perhaps not completely, but enough to belong to that group.  I generally believed the media was fair and honest, and was mostly telling me the truth.  I believed that the liberals were just as much in the right as conservatives were, and in the true spirit of multiculturalism, I took everything both sides said as equally relevant.  I refused to use my head to JUDGE what people said; I refused to try to apply standards of truth.

I knew that people in the communities in which I lived were generally kind and decent… AND I THOUGHT THE ENTIRE REST OF THE WORLD WAS THE SAME.  We were all the same, beneath that color of our skin; we all really thought the same, wanted the same things, and wanted to live the same way, except for those charming little cultural oddities that made other civilizations and cultures so fascinating, and SO much more interesting than our own American civilization and culture.  I regularly disparaged traditional values with fervor and cynicism, savaged traditional movies and books.  The Sound of Music?  Trash!  The Ten Commandments and Ben Hur?  Trash!  The Bible?  I *claimed* to give it respect, but really I considered it “opiate for the masses”… in many ways, I considered it, Trash!  Boy, did I fall in line, right into so many of the liberal PC tropes.

    I was a naive fool.

Then, at the age of 39, on September 11, 2001, the radical murderous Islamic jihadists flew planes carrying innocent people into towers, and the Pentagon, and into a field in Pennsylvania.  And I saw throngs of people celebrating and cheering wildly in their streets.  These people HATED me, and hated millions of others just like me, and they actively wished to murder me and see me, and those I love, harmed, suffering, and dead.

    I woke up.

I knew enough of history, over all the centuries, and of our own American actions through our brief history, to know that these mobs of cheering bastards had no legitimate historically valid reason to be cheering wildly.  That America was not uniquely deserving of a judgment of being evil, and in fact, as a dominant power, we’d been remarkably benevolent, as historically dominant civilizations can be judged.  I knew these people wanted to destroy everything I loved, and I knew, finally, and DEEPLY, that these people had very little in common with me.

    I woke up.

There’s plenty more I could say, but that’s the crux of it.  Many on the left are in the same position I was: They’re just naive, and foolish, and in fact are being deliberately fooled.

There are very bad actors out there on the left.  They knowingly deceive the American public as to their true agendas and goals.  Many of them – even the American ones – actively seek to harm America.  Others simply want to transform America into a country I would scarcely recognize, and I resist them and despise their vision.

I don’t know that I would welcome their deaths the way that you, Ymar, would seem to.  But the worst of them seek to actively harm America: For example, William Ayers, Berdnadine Doehrn, and yes, Barack Obama.  George Soros.  Many others.

There are those who I do not think want to harm America, but want to transform it into some socialist-leaning leftist Utopia.  I am convinced their vision is disastrous, and I despise them for it:  Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, various leaders of feminist and gay movements on the left who have sold their souls and sold out their movements to ally with those on the international scene who DO seek to destroy America.

But all the millions of naive fools… the “sheeple”?  I was one of them.  I don’t actively seek to harm them.  I just want them to wake up.  I want them to change their minds.

The least drastic measure for changing minds is through counter-insurgency, and people saw how that worked out in Iraq and Afghanistan. It isn’t as easy as people think.
