I met a politician who wasn’t there

During the 2008 primaries, Hillary argued that Obama wouldn’t be there to take that 3 a.m. phone call:

Events have proven she was right.  When the phone rang about Benghazi, Obama didn’t answer.  Judging by White House silence regarding events in Algeria, Obama’s been ignoring a few phone calls too.  Serious budget negotiations?  Obama can’t be bothered.  Is signature initiative, ObamaCare?  Obama phoned it in to Nancy Pelosi.  National security issues around the world?  Obama leads from behind.

Now that Obama is trying to embarrass Republicans by contending that they’re cold-blooded killers who want schools to be awash in blood, someone hunted down his 1999 voting record in the Chicago Senate, and discovered that he wasn’t there either (h/t Ace of Spades):

Obama present on bill to disarm schools

Looking at that “present” vote on an issue Obama now contends is just about the most important one of our times, far exceeding the debt burden he’s passing on to our children, I suddenly realized that I’d read about Obama long before he came on the political scene. Indeed, there’s a perfect description of Obama, including that 3 a.m. disappearing act, that dates all the way back to 1899:

Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
I wish, I wish he’d go away…

When I came home last night at three
The man was waiting there for me
But when I looked around the hall
I couldn’t see him there at all!
Go away, go away, don’t you come back any more!
Go away, go away, and please don’t slam the door… (slam!)

Last night I saw upon the stair
A little man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
Oh, how I wish he’d go away

Here’s Glenn Miller’s recording of this very disturbing song (and the perfect anthem for a very disturbing President):

Obama’s a very clear example of how the Left can apply destruction to hundreds of years of American creation and work, simply by being present as a lens through which the Left’s power is focused.

The Left does not particularly rely on individual talents, but on group dynamics to take power and hold it. Once power is held, they can force people to bend knee to the ruling powers that be, simply to feed their children. This makes them unconsciously good at mass public propaganda, equal to or better than the Nazi’s own propagandists. Remember that 99% of the time, the Left’s slander against their enemies was only ever true of the Left themselves. There was a reason why they reacted with the Bush Hitler theme, and it wasn’t because they thought he was Hitler reincarnated. Nor is the Left at large particularly interested in defeating Nazism, as their previous weapon control masters, the Soviets, did with Poland vis a vis the alliance with Germany.

This ability to convince people to do whatever the Left tells them, while blaming all the bad stuff on somebody else, is a particularly effective ploy given that they are doing so in a nation expressly tailored to prevent unnecessary political violence. They can say and do whatever they like, and so long as they use the Constitution as a shield, while beating the hell out of their enemies as the blood flies across the fan, it gives sanction to the propaganda weapon and begets success with success. By the time the active blood on the street operations occur, the Constitution will no longer exist as an enforceable institution, thus freeing up the Left to use their newly obtained power to be the one that wipes the streets clean with the blood of their enemies. What they once used for protection, is no longer necessary once they obtain the power to end, for once and for all, enemy resistance.

Deception and misdirection are only precursors to a battle, and is often times the central piece of a war strategy because it directly attacks, not the physical army or soul of an enemy, but the behavior and judgment of that army’s commanders. Once the deception has achieved its goals, what really ends the battle is unbridled naked force and violence. Cut off the enemy’s head, and they won’t bother you any more. Even if the US Constitution “said” otherwise.

Judging by the Leftist media organ’s behavior, their primary weak point is that they are afraid of physical violence, sanction, and economic disconnection in the journalism “business”. One or two bullets to a couple of their chief’s heads, will cause the rest to modify their behaviors. Much as the mere threat of Islamic violence did so with much greater speed. While the media is effective at manipulating the public conscience, at the same time, the media is physically very vulnerable to kidnapping operations that can be blamed on Leftist terror cells and Islamic terrorists.

Ymar says (#1): Obama’s a very clear example of [...] being present as a lens through which the Left’s power is focused.

I like that phrase and it helps me understand Obama’s powerful effect.  As Book says, he is a politician who isn’t there.  Almost everything about him is an empty suit.  And yet, and yet…  As a lens, focusing power, he is *still* not effective as a person nor as a politician, but as a tool – as a lens – he can be remarkably effective.

This would not matter if Obama were held to account; but Obama is never held to account.  He is one of those “Teflon presidents”, like Reagan.  Nothing sticks to Obama.  I am still struggling to understand why.  I don’t believe it is merely that the mainstream media is sympathetic and in bed with him; Reagan had the Teflon touch too, but the mainstream media was totally, 100% antagonistic toward Reagan.  So the MSM’s complicity cannot, for me, explain it completely.

So, yes, Obama is a lens through which power is focused.  He can do or say *anything*, he can completely contradict himself within hours, within days, within weeks… at any time he can simply reverse a position 180 degrees.  His reversals do not matter at all, because *he* as a person does not matter at all.  What a person said yesterday matters; what a lens focused on yesterday does NOT matter.  Obama is the lens.  And that is ALL that matters.

Book says: Judging by White House silence regarding events in Algeria, Obama’s been ignoring a few phone calls too.  Serious budget negotiations?  Obama can’t be bothered.  Is signature initiative, ObamaCare?  Obama phoned it in to Nancy Pelosi.  National security issues around the world?  Obama leads from behind.

I think that Obama, as a totally committed idealogue, will never compromise his principles.  He has zero political skills in terms of actually accomplishing or solving anything.  He is capable merely of giving the thumbs up or thumbs down: Yes, proceed; or no, do not proceed.  It is all the other people around him who must actually try to accomplish the Leftist goals, including Pelosi with ObamaCare.  Where Obama doesn’t care, he is totally out to lunch, totally absent.  As Book noted, you see this most in foreign policy.  There is almost nothing in foreign policy or national security that Obama gives a damn about.  In rare cases, he’ll throw some propaganda BS around to placate political allies, most notably with his propaganda efforts aimed at keeping the Jewish left quiescent.  Meanwhile, he implements one of his few foreign policy goals: The weakening of Israel, which he clearly despises.  Obama wishes to see Israel disappear, but he lacks the cojones to actually do it himself, because we *are* talking genocide here, you know.  Obama does not want historical proof that would actually TIE him to such a future genocide.  He will set it up as far as he can, such that it may actually happen, but then he will pull his Pontius Pilate act and claim that his bloody hands are actually clean.

Apologies if this is a rant.  I just despise him so much.

When an entire populace comes to hate evil, the belief itself is often enough to save them. Although not always. The Christian Catholic Church and Protestant Reformation Churches always argued about whether salvation came from good works or faith alone. It’s hard to tell the difference really.

My faith in God is renewed whenever I see evil obliterated and crushed with overwhelming and ruthless force. I am enlightened by expressions of faith and historical miracles, but that is only an intellectual upgrade, not a spiritual force.

The Ancient Greeks once claimed that having virtue and behaving virtuously, often revolved around whether one hated injustice and loved happiness/beauty. Such emotions, by themselves, told most of the story, but it didn’t make sense to anyone else without philosophy, life, and logic. Nobody really is birthed able to explain why they feel the way they do. It takes logic and introspection, life wisdom and experience.

Obama is surrounded by somewhat of a cult belief, but it was never intended just for him. The Leftist alliance has been creating the elements of a cult for a long time; Obama just got the benefits of it, but plenty of other Demos got it as well. If you wish to comprehend cults, you should look up some of their recruitment drives and ideological positions historically, as well as the various torture and suppression methods used to indoctrinate and brainwash their members to the point where the members refuse to leave for the real world. Jim Jones is a good one, but the Japanese also have their own particular pieces of work.

To understand what evil truly is, one must necessarily study their methods and why they choose to use those methods when other, far more just methods exist.

“All hostages dead in Algeria”!  I guarantee you our lead from behind officials give a sign of relief and said ” Well I’m glad that’s over.  We did our best.” Glad it didn’t innterurt the inaguation.

But a good rant, Devx.  You and Y-Man are correct that there is nothing inherent in his character that would dissuade him from the worst excesses of a tyrant: 1) no commitment to the higher principles of civics we all learned in elementary school; and 2) no empathy.  He is restrained only by cold, hard political realities here which the Left is striving to loosen, and military realities in the Middle East which the Iranians are striving to change.  But yes, he would prefer simply to make his general feelings quietly known, let some ambitious little Eichmann do the dirty work, and then receive word of it somewhere on the golf course and laugh himself silly.  Even that wouldn’t bring him happiness… but I don’t think he knows that.  A very disturbed and very disturbing fellow.

Hillary, being an extraordinarily intelligent Yale graduate, and the smartest woman who ever lived, somehow didn’t manage to wake up when the phone rang from Benghazi either.  The posited three AM phone call did in fact come and there they were: snoring away, one thumb in their mouths, the other one up their… somewhere else.

While many of us came from the Left or Democrat socialist light idealistic clap trap, not many of us came from the black operations wing of the Left. The assassins, the child killers, the ones that traded in child sex slaves, whores, prostitutes, and human serfs across borders. The ones that personally raped and killed women for pleasure, and used their family power and connections to clean it up afterwards.

While many of us may understand and comprehend the extent of Leftist ideological beliefs and policy initiatives that coincidentally result in evil, how many can say they truly comprehend the operations level of the Leftist alliance? Having never been part of such operations.

That is a level of difficulty perhaps equal or greater than getting Americans to even realize the ideological and religious (not political) divide between Democrats and the rest of us.

If people are surprised at Obama’s excesses, perhaps they should have realized that Obama’s excesses aren’t really excessive from a Leftist stand point. What does that imply as to the societal “average” scale of judgment amongst their groups? Rapist Hollywood directors and Presidents and Congresscritters…. are perhaps not a dime a dozen, but at least normal enough for them to cover em for the Cause…. the Utopian Dream. But one wonders what else they are hiding, if that is the “normal” stuff. If the social intimidation and verbal violence at elite Ivy League colleges are what they willingly expose for the rest of us to read, what it is they are HIDING amongst the groups they don’t want us to know about?

Obama reminds me of a sixteen year old driver, who was given a fancy high-speed sports car only because he showed up for senior classes.  Keys in hand, drunk with power, he drove the car into a ditch. When pulled over and questioned about the wreck, he replied, “I am the “Present”dent.

He truly is a one-man wrecking machine, creating dents, divisions and destruction. I should qualify the one-man theory and say that he is not doing this solo – others gave him the car and keys and told him to floor it.

Obama, at heart, is a lazy wannabe dictator. Most of his handlers, truly, take care of most of the work. Valerie has to cajole him all the time to even go to fundraisers. He’s just not motivated. He’s much like the heir to a kingdom, that gets power because his rich and powerful daddy went up and died.

Those guys were historically assassinated pretty early on. These days, of course, that is less likely. But not impossible.

Chicago is not a city-state. That would be  the Illinois State Senate which, though it may be controlled by Chicago pols- much to the chagrin of my downstate Illinois grandfather-  is located in Springfield.
