Taiwan goes all “Star Wars Storm Troopers”

This is what the Star Wars storm troopers looked like:

And this is the new bullet proof uniform for Taiwan’s special forces:

Please let me know if I’ve been hoaxed or if I’m correct that this is the real deal.

As someone who wears face masks for martial arts, I have to say that I get claustrophobic just looking at that.  It’s nice to have facial protection, but that looks a little to oxygen-free for me.

I imagine it’s very difficult to protect the nose and mouth.  Leave openings, and bullets that even strike the edge of the opening will send fragments into the opening that can wreak havoc.  I think the odds would be small, though.  And besides, those masks look awfully low-budget.

Those masks look like handles to me.  And where the head goes, the body will follow.

They look like standard-brand morons.  Interestingly, no two of them are carrying the same weapons, which must make keeping the ordnance supplies up challenging for the poor shmoe doing the ordering.  Maybe everybody just brings in whatever was lying around in the cellar, and supplies their own ammo.

The tin-pots of WWI, and the cloth hats of previous wars, were awfully low budget.

But the did evolve over the years.

Doesn’t look wrong to me. SF will also get to hide their identities much easier, which is a problem if your leader keep broadcasting your identity for the enemy to take revenge on.

Whether the masks are up to standard or not is a different issue. But bullet entry into the face and brain is a serious concern. It’s not a comic book villain nor standard brand.

Reminds me of these guys (though I prefer what the Spartans were wearing): http://tinyurl.com/ls8k3b9

    Greetings:

Me, I’m more of a “There are soldiers that march and there are soldiers that fight” guy. I prefer those that look like they’ve already been.

Looks like “Attack of the Mole People” to me.
