Convention open thread

13-trump-laughs.w529.h352During the day I’m doing legal work and at night I can’t get to the TV, all if which means I’m not doing any convention blogging. Between my Facebook (populated by Leftists) and my daily reading rounds (about 75% of which now fall into the #NeverTrump) category, my sense of the convention is chaos and amateurism.

But here’s what’s funny — my conservative friends who are neither Leftists, pundits, nor hardcore #NeverTrumpers (even if they’re not fans), seem pleased by the convention. I should add that they’re also not racists, antisemitism, misogynists, or Nazis. They’re just ordinary, hard-working people who feel that Trump speaks sound American common sense and who are fed up with its opposite.

I’d really love to hear from all of you about the convention (generally and with regard to specific speakers), about Trump, about the #NeverTrump movement, about Hillary, about the media, and about all the other streams that are crossing this week. I’m baffled, confused, worries, overwhelmed, and a little depressed (especially about the Lefties’ increasingly shrill cries about Hitler and coups), and I suspect you all will help ground me.

Addendum: What do you think of Richard Baehr’s take, including his prediction that hard-left, corrupt Hillary will probably win? I fear he’s right, which distresses me no end. Three phrases: Supreme Court, First Amendment, Second Amendment. Hillary has already openly and explicitly stated her intention to drive the first to a permanent hard-Left majority and to destroy the other two.
