Watching those Watcher’s results

Over at the Watcher’s Council, the votes are in, and they are good, especially since most of the posts and articles for which I voted did well, and so did I.

On the Watcher’s side, first place went to ‘Okie’ on the Lam for 2001 — Our Own Odyssey Began On 9/11, a vivid retelling of Okie’s experiences on 9/11, along with the sad and true observation that the country lied when it said it would never forget. I voted for this post and am glad to see others did as well.

Second place was an amazing four way tie, with votes to (1) yours truly for 50 million intellectuals can be wrong, in which I point out that all the smarts and reasoning ability in the world won’t help you if your arguments are premised on a false system of values and morality; (2) Right Wing Nuthouse for The Way We Were, which also looks at 9/11 and the changes it wrought in our country; (3) Joshuapundit for Osama’s Real Message, which, as promised, analyzes the real message in Osama’s black-bearded video (another post for which I voted); and (4) Rhymes with Right, Voter Racism Must Be Condemned!, a pointed article looking at the reductio ad absurdum of identity politics.

Things were just as good on the non-Watcher side. First place went to American Thinker for When the Left Cares, and When It Doesn’t, an article that uses the despicable Brian De Palma movie to talk about causes dear and not so dear to the Leftist heart; with second place honors to the Counterterrorism Blog for Iran Plan for Iraq, a truly scary look at what Iran will almost certainly do if the US abandons the Iraqi ship too soon.  So scary, indeed, that I voted for it in the hopes that more people would read it and be as scared as I was.  This is the type of article that makes you hope very much that the author is just guessing and isn’t cursed with the power of prophecy.

All in all, another good week at the Watcher’s Council.  And of course, as always, I commend each of the articles and posts to your attention, not just the ones that won.
