Obama’s apparently obsequious handshake

Once again, Obama looks as if he’s bowing to a foreign leader:

Could it be that, as a tall man, Obama has a naturally obsequious handshake?  That is, is he politely bringing his head down the level of the person with whom he’s shaking hands, and does he do this with anyone shorter than he is?

In the above photo, the Emperor is indeed much shorter than Obama, but that has the look of a full-fledged deep obeisance from an American president to a foreign monarch.

Alternatively, does Obama just have an irresistible urge to kowtow to foreign leaders?  I truly don’t know.  I’d love your insights, with all of us keeping in mind that the camera often lies, capturing milliseconds out of context, and creating a false narrative.
