Sex ed in school

Several friends sent me links to a story about a “sex ed” class at Northwestern University.  I was all set to write a post about the decline of Western standards, and the travesty that sees parents paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to send their kids to schools that do this kind of thing on the parents’ dime.  Then I saw that Ace beat me too it.  So, read Ace and then, if you like, pretend that I wrote something that good.

Well, I’m outraged, which is saying a lot for rightwinger. To take a glorious literary character like Dildo Baggins and reduce him to a silent participant in an adolescent play about sex is way over the line for me.

Isn’t this illegal in Evanston? Don’t you at least need a permit for such performances? Or are strip clubs now educational venues?

Well, I guess it was inevitable…members of the Credential-Crazy-Classes believe that you can’t learn to do *anything* unless it is in a formal educational setting.
I imagine that in the near future, girls & guys will demand a certificate of proper sexual education before hooking up with a new partner….Although given the alcohol consumption levels often involved, they might not be able to read it. Perhaps an electronic device that flashes “OK” if the prospective partner is has proper pleasuring paperwork.

The 60s was the start of the sexual revolution. It ended up destroying the basic traditional framework for courtship and dating between the sexes. They replaced it with free love over the next couple of decades. Now how has it been working out for us?

If you’re a guy with no aspirations of becoming an adult, it’s worked out great: More nookie than even an invading Mongol army can handle. And it can last for decades. As you acquire wealth, unfettered by family, you’re attractive to feminist wymyn who think that just because they rail with their lips against nature that their bodies and mental wiring won’t continue looking for well-to-do males.

For girls, not so good. Lots of hot sex while your body looks good, then not as much sex, and still no commitments from men (see above). To paraphrase Olivia Newton John, “Let me hear your body clock, body clock” is a refrain that even the most super-enlightened girlie man has a hard time tapping his toe to.

I wonder what type of speech code they have at Northwestern, and if they have any sexual harassment policy in place? I’m sure they go out of their way to not offend students with inflammatory speech/viewpoints, and protect students and university staff from a hostile work environment. I would think this stunt violates both, even if it is ‘uncool’ or unenlightened to notice that.

The Daily Northwestern quoted Bailey as saying,“Sticks and stones may break your bones, but watching naked people on stage doing pleasurable things will never hurt you.”

No, it’s when you’re loaded up on sexual pleasure and hedonism, and unable to defend your girlfriend from Muslim rapists and murderers, that is when it hurts you. Long term consequences.

The saddest part of this story is the real, deep disrespect these people, especially the professor, have shown toward Northwestern University. This makes a mockery of true scholarship and all that Northwestern once stood (and still?) stands for. Now the question is: will the university understand this and take appropriate action or not? If not, then you can write your essay about the downfall of Western standards, Book.

An interesting set of comments on the whole modern dating dysfunction.

Wow! Just wow! I just saw this report on the “news at noon” here in NY.

One quote that really is disturbing is that the professor was quoted as saying that he “could not come up with a legitimate reason for not doing this.”

No legitimate reason?  How about students partaking in voyeurism, how about giving a platform to exhibitionists – both parties would be arrested in other settings for doing either the watching or the doing.  Nothing legitimate?  This clown shouldn’t have his teaching credentials

And lastly, speaking of clown, the news report mentioned whips, and other “fetish” items; including a clown wig!  I will never, ever, look at clowns the same way again!  Arrgh! This has ruined the circus for me.
