Does Obama’s interview about Israel reveal a president who has finally broken free of reality?

Young Obama Young Bibi and Bib NetanyahuMano a mano, I’d bet on Netanyahu against Obama every time.  Nation to nation, though, Bibi has the misfortune to be facing off against a spoiled, Leftist, anti-Israel, pot-smoking adolescent who nevertheless controls the world’s greatest military and economic power.  I’m still betting on the Israelis, but it’s not a no-brainer — especially because Obama appears to have reached his conclusions by ignoring stubborn facts and, instead, substituting data that is entirely unrelated to any facts on the ground.

I bring this up because, although the headlines are about Ukraine, no Jew who cares about Israel can have missed Obama’s truly dreadful interview with Jeffrey Goldberg. In it, he made clear that, as far as he’s concerned, the only thing stopping Middle East peace is Israel’s peculiarly stiff-necked intransigence.

To reach this conclusion, Obama shows that he is as delusional about the Muslim Middle East as he is about the rest of the world.  In Obama’s world, Israelis have no interest in peace.  It is, instead, the Palestinians (who strongly support terrorism, who voted for Hamas when they had the chance, who celebrate Jewish genocide, who have never complied with past “peace” agreements, who openly demand a world without Israel, and who have refused to negotiate without preconditions by which Israel gives up her nationhood) who are chomping at the bit to get to the negotiating table.

Don’t take my word for it about Obama’s twisted view of the Middle East.  After you’ve read his own words, check out John Podhoretz’s masterly deconstruction of Obama’s fantasies — as well as his take on Obama’s threats.  It remains to be seen whether Obama’s fact-free preemptive strike against Israel bear fruit in the complacent media.  (I can’t believe I said that.  Of course they’ll bear fruit.)

Caroline Glick, a strong, logical, fearless voice for conservative Israelis, hitback swiftly, telling Obama that his threats cannot frighten a nation that has seen much, much worse.  She also took the time to expose some of Obama’s more reality-challenged statements.  Sadly, I don’t think anyone in the White House is paying attention to Glick.

I don’t expect the administration to pay attention to a Jew.  The administration likes only deracinated Jews who have replaced obedience to God with obedience to the Democrat party.  But maybe the Obama administration should listen to one of Islam’s most prominent spokes people.  Anjem Choudary is clear about the existential inconsistencies between Islam and the West:

If you don’t recognize Choudary’s name, Jim Hoft fills you in:

Islamic hate preacher Anjem Choudary blamed Lee Rigby’s murder on British foreign policy.

In 2008 Choudary gloated over the Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Anjem Choudary is a British-Pakistani, who lives on social welfare funds and supports jihad. Choudary takes in a reported sum of £25,000 ($37,770) per year from the British welfare program while soldiers earn only $24,000 a year. Something is wrong with the system.

I used the words “delusional,” “fact-free,” and “reality-challenged” to describe Obama’s approach to the Middle East and even included a link to a Washington Post editorial calling his approach to Ukraine a “fantasy.”  Up until this past week, I would simply have said that Obama has long lived in a Leftist bubble, which has guided his practical and moral approach to the world.  Those weren’t delusions, but grave ideological errors.  This past week, though, we are seeing Obama trading in his foul ideological glasses (which distort everything on which they focus) for actual delusional facts.  Has the bubble gotten so thick about him that our president is literally becoming deranged?

Pot can do that to you, so I’ll leave you with the very surprising words that came out of Gov. Jerry “Moonbeam” Brown of California, when asked about  his enthusiasm for legalizing pot in California (emphasis added):

Well, we have medical marijuana, which gets very close to what they have in Colorado and Washington. I’d really like those two states to show us how it’s going to work. The problem with anything, a certain amount is okay, but there is a tendency to go to extremes, and all of a sudden, if there’s advertising and legitimacy, how many people can get stoned and still have a great state or a great nation? World’s pretty dangerous, very competitive. I think we needed to stay alert, if not 24 hours a day, more than some of the pot heads might be able to put together.

You mean you believed the Left when they said they were sane and not deranged?
Come on, we all know better.

  • Charles Martel

What’s ironic is that Obama is very much our own version of Putin, except for minor differences in cunning, courage, and chops.
Still, something has to be done to rein in the Choomster. Unfortunately, there seems to be no power left to constrain him—Congress, the Supremes, and the media are proud Quislings in this matter. Even if we win resoundingly at the polls in November, there will still be nobody to step forward and plainly describe and challenge his outlawry.
My beloved America dismantled by a party of moronic racists—who woulda thought?

If the Left was so easy to defeat via elections, I never would have thought civil war would happen in this century. But because the Left has many headed hydras that regenerate, things are now the way they are. 90 years of Leftist evil, Leftist work, cannot be cleansed in so short a time as people would like. Not by elections. Not even, perhaps, by war.

Conundrum….seems like there is nothing any of us can do except rail at the moon.   I learn so much from reading this blog……but it also breaks my heart.  Does a person stay informed or does a person give up?   A buffoon has been (re)elected……so sad.

  • Earl

Sadly, the buffoonery is the least of it…..America has (re)elected a man who WANTS to reduce American power and influence in the world….a man who believes that America is the problem in most of the things that are wrong in this world…..a man who sees himself as the One who can right the wrongs by taking America down in military and economic power.
    We….and the world…..are in trouble.

Au contraire, Obama is not delusional – he’s despicable!

  • MikeR

He is a elite form of the typical Left elite.  He is a narcissist.  He is firmly rooted in the religion of the Left.  He will not be swayed by information or sanity or rationality or reality.  He is insulated by a bevy of very bright but inexperienced and incompetent acolytes – also rooted in the disease of Liberalism.  His pre-determined world view is to support the victim.  He will not change.
I don’t think he really cares about peace in the Middle East.  I think he is much more interested in adding a peace agreement to his “list of accomplishments”, however useless and unworkable it is.  This will be added to his legacy.  It is always about him.  He is a very disturbed person.  His behavior could easily fit the description of sociopath. – a person with a personality disorder manifesting itself in extreme antisocial attitudes and behavior and a lack of conscience.

I told the Israelis on this blog before, that if they wanted true security they needed to exterminate the Palis.
People did some rejections of that view as being too extreme and too much like what the enemies of the Jews did to the Jews.
The point is, so long as Israel wishes for peace, they won’t get any. If you wish for peace, prepare for war by killing the enemy. Whether you think Palestinian moms and kids are your enemies… that’s up to you. But you got to kill somebody.
If Israel continues their prisoner trade, helping Pali terrorists be free in return for Leftist “political circus” in Israel… things will progress naturally to this point. Where nobody will be on their side, and their time will have run. Just like time for America ran out some time ago. The point of no return had already been crossed by 2010, as far as I considered it. The Tea Party, if it had started getting funded 30 or even 10 years ago, might have done something. But we know what happened there, when the Left called in the artillery on the Tea Party moms and kids.
If Israel thinks the “international community” will help them face off against the Palis, then they will get an Obama to teach the reality of war. You either use it or you lose it. Meanwhile, Israelis continue to die in droves from terrorists Israeli politicians freed for “kickbacks”.

Slightly related, I know it’s no surprise to hear this, as it seems to happen again and again, but at the Oscars one of the nominated foreign films was introduced as from Palestine, that non-existent country/state.

    • SADIE

      “..Palestine, that non-existent country/state.”
My mother was born in Jerusalem, while the British still certified birth certificates, declared her born in Palestine. Eighteen years later she had to declare her citizenship in the US. She brought her birth certificate to the ‘proper authorities’ – this was prior to the State of Israel (1948).  She was asked, “In what country were you born? – There is no Palestine.” I recall her telling me, that she paused a moment to answer, when the official stated, “Your choices are Jordan or Israel – pick one.”

  • dahozho

I *love* the top picture.  For me, it really sums up the choice– as the late Harold Ramis zt”l said– “Who ya gonna call?”  I know who I want answering the 3am call.  I never thought it would just go to voicemail.
Obozo, amongst any other problems, proves the dangers of allowing a narcissist access to political power.  The guy actually seems to truly believe the image his spin doctors/DNC created for him.  When reality and his beloved image diverge– it is *always* reality that has it wrong.
The clothes are off, and I hope we have enough sane people remaining in this country to realize we are quickly headed towards a very evil destination….

The other Hussein also believed US forces in Iraq were getting chewed up during the invasion of 03.

The emperor has no clothes.  An old bit of wisdom passed down to us – gleaned from thousands of years of human behavior.  Yet, far too many are oblivious to history and unable to learn from it.

Democrat slave masters in the past kept their black genetically inferior slave stock illiterate because it was meaningless to teach animals the history of their race.

  • jj

But see: look at the little son of a bitch!  He’s an Ivy League lawyer!  He was in a state legislature!  He was in the US Senate!  He lives in a mansion in a nice (sic) part of the dump known as Chicago!  Now, having actually accomplished not one single thing in his entire life, he lives in the goddam white house!  He’s the goddam president of the goddam United States!
And you’re complaining that he’s disconnected from reality?  With a straight face?  Disconnected from reality?  What the hell has reality ever – EVER – had to do with him?

    Punctuation? No. Punk-a-nation? Yes!
    Kerry spoke at AIPAC.
John Kerry: ‘We will not permit Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. Period.’

The Choudary tweet is remarkably brazen, isn’t it?  The fascist, totalitarian mindset of radical Islam is laid bare for all to see.  It couldn’t be plainer.  How any self-respecting American could accept even the tiniest part of such a mindset is beyond me.  Choudary is an enemy of mine, 100%, completely.  Yet our Administration cozies up to his people and the rest of the radical Islam power groups.
And how much of the Islamic umma would agree with Choudary?  I’m betting it’s higher than 50%, and perhaps much higher.  Which doesn’t exactly make him “radical”, but rather quite comfortably “mainstream”.  Not a pleasant thought, when you consider how thoroughly we in the West are refusing to challenge Choudary and his ilk.

  • Mike Devx

Let’s pull out the worst parts of the Choudary tweet to make it absolutely clear:
    Human Rights
    Divine Rights
If you believe in freedom, liberty, personal responsibility, and the sanctity and worth of the individual, you must know that you are looking at one of your worst enemies when you see Choudary.
If you look at the way Obama is cozying up to and coddling Choudary’s kind of people in the Middle East, especially among the Palestinians, and the way Obama is unremittingly hostile against Benyamin Netanyahu, this has severe implications for Israel as well.
Obama is among the weakest of dreamers, where kum-bay-ah “world opinion” substitutes for any meaningful foreign policy defends American interests.  Obama keeps getting smacked hard across the forehead by real events, and it never seems to make even the smallest impression on his rigid dreaming mindset.  2016 can’t get here soon enough.

  • Ymarsakar

Chou is actually doctrinally correct about Islam vs the West, on an intellectual level. Meaning liberty is not compatible with submission as a sex slave and murderer to Allah, the omnipotent God via inshallah.
Then again, the Left never believed in liberty to begin with. So Islam is a very good ideological ally for them in that sense. The West is a poison. Not in the way the Left thinks it is, but in the way that any kind of prosperity and decadence is a poison. It weakens the public virtue and soon you’ll become an Athens, not a Sparta.

  • MikeR

Ymarsakar – The West is a poison. Not in the way the Left thinks it is, but in the way that any kind of prosperity and decadence is a poison. It weakens the public virtue and soon you’ll become an Athens, not a Sparta.
Excellent observation.  As society strives to make life easier we become detached from the realities of the hardship of nature.  We stop learning how to fight.
