IRS correspondence seems to reveal conspiracy to criminalize conservative speech

Obama-IrsThe IRS’s job is to collect the taxes that Congress demands the American people pay. Under Lois Lerner’s guidance, though, the IRS’s job, apparently, was to identify potential conservative targets for Department of Justice criminal investigations. Hmmm.

PJMedia currently has running two excellent posts on the subject. The first is J. Christian Adams’ “A new, more sinister IRS scandal.” The second is Bryan Preston’s “The terrifying implications of the IRS Abuse-DOJ connection.”

Preston opens his post with this compelling paragraph:

Thank God for Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George. His investigation of what turned out to be the IRS abuse scandal may well have saved the Constitution and the nation.

I hope Preston is correct.

Adams closes his post by saying, “Just wait until the American people learn more about the modern American version of history’s speech regulators.”

Sadly, I think Adams is wrong. The ones who never pay attention will continue not to pay attention. As for the man-in-the-street Democrats, the ones who are unthinking, not activist, Leftists, I’m sorry to say that they won’t suddenly think, “Oh, my God! What have we become? This has to stop.”

Instead, when you try to convince knee-jerk, unthinking Democrats that their party is using the most powerful government agency in America to shut down political debate and imprison political dissent, you’ll get a shrug, along with mumbled remarks about “conservative wackos are paranoid,” and “these people were obviously breaking the law,” and “the IRS saved us from turning into a Christian Fundamentalist Nation, kind of like Iran.”

Government is the last place in which the war is fought.  The initial battles are for people’s hearts and minds, and the Left started fighting and winning those battles in the 1960s.  Now, as the old saying goes, “it’s all over but for the shouting.”

Here’s a Time Machine way back leap.

It’s always interesting to read some of the comments from here, in the past.
“The initial battles are for people’s hearts and minds, and the Left started fighting and winning those battles in the 1960s.”
1920-30s. The 1960s had the New Left. Why do you think they called themselves the New Left? There was an Old Left before them, an Old Guard. Communism didn’t just grow up in Russia and no where else. America had its own version of the Dark Enlightenment in eugenics and racism.
It’s difficult to impossible to convince people using logick. That requires education and independent judgment, things which are only naturally present in 1-3% of the human population. Human education was supposed to rectify this problem, but it turns out you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink. Especially when the water is poisonous, on par with modern public US education.
So what is left? Emotion is what is left. Experience is what is left. Force, violence, intimidation, blackmail, is what is left. Until people feel the Left’s boot on their heads, until they see the Left stomp down on the heads of their children… people will never have what it takes to deserve Victory.

Certainly makes one wonder if the reason they’re stalling on providing all of Lerner’s email is because she was also in contact with other federal agencies, as the one initiating the various audits or as the coordinator. Hard to imagine she wasn’t also in contact with someone at the WH(directly or through an IRS superior). All of the agencies  simultaneously harassing Catherine Engelbrecht/True the Vote wasn’t a coincidence.

A lot of people think Americans would refuse to obey tyranny or would refuse to get up on the train to the death camps.
That idea revolved around the concept that Americans were individuals and would know the truth.
    1. Americans are not individuals for the most part. INdividuals are rare, else they would not be individuals.
    2. The truth is papered up by the Left’s self righteousness. Californians keep telling me I live in an echo chamber, for example. The Yeelands, the Oakland deaths, the other stuff that goes on for a list of 99 evils that I won’t write down, are what they cook up in the back of their yards and they dare to say I live in an echo chamber. They paper over the truth and refuse to see it.

The other thought I had regarding the DoJ/IRS collusion was that this may be why the IRS asked for so much, and such detailed information from these groups. Part of it was a deterrent (making such onerous demands that they gave up), but maybe it was also an attempt to catch them in a “lie” (omission or error in the paperwork) and then sic the DoJ on them.

Yes. I think that was absolutely it. There is one thing to refer a scofflaw for criminal punishment but quite another to say well what is our strategy here. You wouldn’t be going back and forth like Lerner was unless she a coherent goal. Certainly collecting taxes due was not it.
The question is how should conservatives deal with this. Motive will come into focus if we know more about the personal lives of these people. If Lerner is an habitually abusive jerk with a history of leftist causes and vicious Sharpton like activism it says more about what she was doing. Maybe it might become prejudicial but the American people need to know what they are being led around by. Maybe this is what Americans want but at least they won’t be ignorant about it.

Anyone ever thought about making a Vader Hitler bunker parody video, where Vader demonstrates what happens when someone underestimates the Black Power of the Force? I mean the Dark Side of the force.
Hussein up above would be perfect for that role.
