One change in voter demographics

I have just witnessed a single change in local voter demographics. My mother, who has always voted Democratic, says that she does not intend to vote for the Democrats any more. She is “disgusted” with them, since they seem ineffectual and have absolutely no plan about any of the woes affecting the U.S. She continues to loathe Bush with a visceral dislike. Indeed, she said that she is grateful that she won’t have to make the decision to vote for him in 2008. I rather wonder how many other voters are out there who are like my mother: Bush haters who nonetheless will bite the bullet and vote for Republicans in the coming election. Even more interestingly, I wonder how these people will affect the 2008 election.

Don Quixote suspects that my Mom is part of a very, very small trend. Although she is generally disenchanted with the Democrats, what really drives her is the fact that she is disgusted by the rising anti-Semitism within Democratic ranks. Even though she gets her nows only from the MSM, even she has figured out that Keith Ellison (ably profiled over and over at Power Line) is a bad sign, just as the anti-Semitism that accompanied the push against Lieberman was a bad sign. DQ thinks that the fear of anti-Semitism that is driving her to the Republicans will be replicated in only a very small voting block and will have little effect on upcoming elections.
