The Bookworm Beat 2/6/16 — the illustrated edition and open thread

I’ve been collecting some great posters and cartoons.  This utterly insane political season certainly provides inspiration for the cynic and the comic:

Bernie as a teacher

Bernie Sanders accomplishments

The results of the democrat debate

Four reasons not to vote for Hillary

Slow speed chase Hillary FBI

Detroit liberals in charge

Liberals create ghettoes

No Democrats on Mt Rushmore

Grandma voted Democrat after she died

Socialism is what people try to escape

What can your country do for you

What happens when a Clinton runs for president

rubio Cruz Amnesty

Be like Israel

Obama on Muslims and Israel

Hating Israel the politically correct way to hate Jews

ISIS can use Facebook but gun owners blocked

Why do Muslims come to America if they hate everything

armed women don't get raped

Police officer beats black man

Proud of the insults Leftists throw

Abortion and loaded guns

old days GM jobs in US bad water in Mexico

For the following picture, take a close look at the little blue plaque on the wall (click on the image to enlarge, if need be), and you’ll appreciate why this picture is both funny and horrifying:

Orwell's home in London

False rape accusations

And lastly, from the “some things never change” department, Jim Hatlo, whose heyday was the 1940s and 1950s, reminds us that, with government, inefficiency and lack of customer service are constants, regardless of the decade in which you find yourself.  This cartoon particularly resonated with me because I first saw it after a very frustrating visit to my local post office.  The clerks are very nice and very knowledgeable, but the facility provides no guidance whatsoever for the various forms scattered about.  I invariably have to stand in line twice — the first time to learn which form to use, and the second time after I’ve already completed the form.  Aaargh!
