The convergence of Left and Right
I’m deeply suspicious of overreaching government; my neighbor is deeply suspicious of overreaching corporations. The result: Both she and I are strongly opposed to the new “smart meters” that PG&E, working with California’s notoriously corrupt PUC, wants to install in people’s houses. Neither of us likes the idea that an entity we distrust is going to be able to monitor, not on a gross scale, but on a micro scale, every second of our electrical use. We both know that managing always follows monitoring.
Both of us, of course, should be concerned about the fact that the meters are more costly than they are smart.
