A portmanteau post with all sorts of interesting stuff *UPDATED*

As I hinted this morning, I have a gazillion open tabs on my computer, all crying to be read and disseminated.  I’ll do a laundry list here of those things that interested me, with bold headings so that you can sort through without having to read everything in an undifferentiated mass.

Whole Foods boycott:  Apparently a writer at the SF Chronicle suggested that the fact that the Whole Foods CEO has a lot of happy, well-insured employees who have a system that may work better than single payer is not a good basis for a boycott.  The Chron’s reliably liberal readership objected vociferously.  You can read the nonsense here, but one struck me as particularly foolish:  “A government run health care system means Mr Mackey does not have to pay for the health care coverage of his employees. The man should resign from his position based on stupidity alone.”  Does the writer not understand that we, the people pay for the government.  And that Mr. Mackey is one of those paying people?  Given the fact that it’s not only the untaxed poor, but also the taxed middle class in SF who foolishly cling to socialism, it’s entirely likely that this writer is failing to understand that, when the government pays, he pays.

British health careAnother needless death story out of England, this time a woman who was accused of malingering on the taxpayer’s dime, only to die in agony from Legionnaire’s Disease.

Socializing health care should be a concern for young people tooLorie Byrd takes to task those young people who blithely assume that they will be freed from all responsibilities should Obama Care pass.  How wrong they are.  By the way, Lorie is asking for comments to this post.  She wants young people to know that this is a serious issue.

Obama takes the God bit way too seriously. Do I really need to comment on Obama, of all people, setting himself up as God’s partner?

Obama urges Liberal Rabbis to make Obama Care a religious imperative.  I’ve mentioned in many posts that liberal Jews no longer practice a recognizably Jewish faith.  They practice liberalism with a Jewish gloss.  Nothing makes this more clear than a collusive phone call between Obama and these liberal rabbis in which they brainstorm ways to assure their congregations that God planned Obama Care and that the Obamessiah is simply the engine bringing God’s plan to fruition.

Fashion.  In a frivolous aside, I note here that, while I looked charming in 80s fashions back in the 80s, I really don’t think we need a re-do.  If we’re redoing a decade, why don’t we re-do the elegant thirties or perky forties?

An Obama lie and abortion.  Obama put his crediblity on the line again by stating that the health care reform will not fund abortion.  Perhaps he hasn’t read the bills floating around.  They do, in fact, fund abortion.  As you know, I’m a luke warm pro-Choicer, something I haven’t shaken from my liberal youth, but I think that, given the highly legitimate moral stand opponents have against abortion, its unconscionable to use their tax dollars to fund it.  If pro-Choicers want to ensure that poor people can get abortions, they should set up private funds to do so.

White House deals with lies. Well, that’s not true.  The White House isn’t dealing with Obama’s endless lies.  Instead, it’s set up yet another web site to deal with the lies all those other bad people are telling.  I don’t think that Jake Tapper, who reports on this, is impressed by the whole thing.

It might help if Obama was consistent.  Maybe people would trust Obama more if he didn’t constantly contradict himself.  True for a narcissist or a crooked used car salesman, he blithely states whatever the need of the moment demands.  The buyer may be mesmerized for a few minutes, but soon realizes that the truth is nowhere to be found.

Daniel Hannan on health care.  I’ve only listened to bits and pieces of the Daniel Hannan speech (h/t:  Ymarsakar), but it’s superb.  You must listen to the whole thing, as I plan to do, as soon as the little chickadees in my house stop calling “Mommy, Mommy” and as soon as the $%*#@ phone stops ringing.

MSNBC emulates Obama and liesNewBusters carefully shows how MSNBC edited TV footage to make it appears as if a black man who showed up at a health care rally with a gun was in fact a racist white man.

About those death panels. Veterans’ experiences with government funded health care show that, when the bill payer prefers less treatment, the payees inevitably end up wanting to provide less treatment — and that includes urging sick people to just get on with it and die.  No wonder my mother, who once supported nationalized health care, has finally figured out that this is not a good deal for her.  The bottom line is that most normal people don’t want to die.  They want to live — and they don’t want their government pulling the plug on them.

Obama Care will be great — as long as you don’t get sickAn anesthesiologist explains why socialized medicine increases death on the front lines.  (And if you scroll back up, you’ll see the story out of England making a similar point.)

The thousand page bill, by its very existence, reveals the truth about Obama Care. Thomas Sowell points out the obvious:  a thousand page bill that affects 1/6 of our economy is, if nothing else, the socialist camel’s nose coming through the American health care tent.  Where the nose goes, the camel follows.

Muslim Britain.  I’ve been hostile to the notion of visiting England, a country I once loved, because it has become so antisemitic.  Lately, though, I’ve been thinking that it’s time to take the kids to England, because I honestly don’t think that, by the time they’re grown up, there will be an England anymore.  At the rate England is willingly Islamizing itself, its culture will be overtaken in a few decades — and we know that conquering Muslims always destroy the remants of the country they conquer.  The books, manuscripts, and paintings will be consigned to the flames.

And why life will be horrible in Muslim BritainPhyllis Chesler musters a few facts to remind us why life in a truly Muslim society is an awful life.

Democratic suttee.  Investors Business Daily looks at the Democratic willingness to burn on the funeral pyre of socialized medicine.  Frankly, I don’t care if they feed themselves to the political flames, but I hate it that they’re dragging a very unwilling nation along with them.

And that is that.

UPDATE:  And that is not quite that.  The last thing that really deserves your attention is Zombie’s photo gallery of the years and years of incredibly explicit death threats against President Bush — threats the media routinely glossed over.  (H/t:  Noisy Room)
