Bumper sticker news

In Marin,  9 out of 10 bumperstickers one sees are liberal in context.  Make that 9.9 out of 10.

There’s the “Endless This War” sticker; and the still popular “Somewhere in Texas a village is missing its idiot” sticker; and the saccharine, unrealistic and facile “Coexist,” with the symbols of various religions used in lieu of letters.  More concretely, there are uncountable Gore and Kerry bumper stickers on older model cars.  And with increasing frequency, there are the “Barack ’08″ and “Change ’08″ bumper stickers.  Those last are popping out like fungus after a rainfall.

But today I saw a lovely first.  It was a “Hillary” sticker, partially overlaid by a “McCain” sticker.  I gather that someone is deeply offended that a woman who has paid her dues (and this is true whether or not one likes her), has been cast aside for a man who has paid nothing.

When people try to make this nation like a banana republic or Zimbabwe or an Arab nation like Saudi Arabia, they are somehow surprised that merit and hard work is no longer rewarded?

    Ooo.

I particularly enjoy the Kerry bumper stickers. I look closely at the drivers to see if I can discern what makes them so proud of supporting a loser.

Confession. I saw a man with a “Support President Bush and our Troops” sticker on his truck several years ago. I asked where he found it and he told me he bought it out of state. Then he gave me one. I may keep it on our car forever. Just for the heck of it.

A friend designed a very nice “NOBAMA 08″ sticker in the appropriate colors. I hope he will have some manufactured.

So, maybe there is some hope if there are enough ticked off Hillary supporters willing to pull the lever for McCain. A girl can hope.
