Facts about epidemic funding in the U.S.

Michelle Malkin has caught on to the fact that the Left side of the blogosphere has a new meme:  they contend that, should there be a pandemic, it can be traced to the always evil GOP because Rove/Collins opposed flu pandemic funding in the porkulus bill.

The only problem with this is that it’s a lie.  As Michelle explains, it was good ol’ Chuck Schumer who opposed that funding.  Whoops!

But you all had better get this fact-duck neatly lined up, because I can guarantee you that this false argument isn’t going to go away anytime soon.

But you all had better get this fact-duck neatly lined up, because I can guarantee you that this false argument isn’t going to go away anytime soon.

It appeals to people’s emotions about the Republicans. Directing their hate from themselves and the Democrats to us.

And it will work, because the Republicans are not as good or proficient in emotional manipulation as people like me. Or people like your regular Dem cult follower, even.

Narcissists, after all, naturally know how to manipulate the emotions of others. The Democrat party simply takes this resources and exploits it in an organized and grand scheme. They don’t need to teach their operatives how to manipulate and dupe people, for narcissists already know how and have done so thousands of times with their lies and reputation shattering destructive acts.

But Republicans are saner, far saner. Even if a Republican politician wanted to do so, he could not find enough people in his party to be competent at emotional manipulation, propaganda, psychological warfare, and the exigencies of assassination, personal or physical.

The Republicans, you see, lack both a desire and the resources to wage a war using the same fire as the Dems.

But we are learning, I suppose, if only because the alternative is defeat on the grandest scale possible for the American dream. As I learned before, during, and after 9/11. To defeat an enemy, you will inevitably become more like your enemy, for that is the only way to think as he does and thereby destroy him irrevocably.

Someone commented that there was a medical emergency declared yesterday, and that gives Obama significant powers. I missed this – has anyone seen anything about it?

We *may* have seen the first two deaths in the USA from swine flu, occurring in California. If true, this would explain why Gov. Schwarzenegger has declared a state of emergency there.

The CDC in Atlanta said they fully expect “some deaths” to occur in the USA from this flu.

If those two deaths were among “the healthy middle-aged” and were being cared for in the hospital, that would be more serious than if two infirm elderly had sought help from doctors far too late.

As to the CDC announcement, I think *every* flu strain that moves across the nation results in “some deaths”, so I’m still not going to get overly alarmed. Not yet. But it continues to bear watching.

On Friday this flu was tending pandemic, and now it is known to be pandemic. This took four or five days to occur.

Likewise, I think within a few days to a week, those who consider this a “mild flu worthy of no concern” will not be so blase. It is at least as dangerous as other flus, and possibly much more dangerous. Time will tell how concerned we should become.

Oops. The California deaths were not swine-flu-related.

I figured that since the Guv declared his emergency, *and* the CDC sent out their notice that deaths were expected, that this whole thing was a planned rollout of the death news. Turned out to be just a coincidental series of news releases, followed by a bad blurb by Hannity about the deaths. I wonder where he got his info?

My bad. I should have waited for this site to post the news. They’ve been very fast and reliable so far – and they *didn’t* post the death news. But they did post that that circulating story was false.

In case you wondering how long it would take to blame YOU, your wait time is over – 5th paragraph.

CAIRO – Egypt began slaughtering the roughly 300,000 pigs in the country Wednesday as a precaution against swine flu even though no cases have been reported here, infuriating farmers who blocked streets and stoned vehicles of Health Ministry workers who came to carry out the government’s order.

The measure was a stark expression of the panic the deadly outbreak is spreading around the world, especially in poor countries with weak public health systems. Egypt responded similarly a few years ago to an outbreak of bird flu, which is endemic to the country and has killed two dozen people.

At one large pig farming center just north of Cairo, scores of angry farmers blocked the street to prevent Health Ministry workers in trucks and bulldozers from coming in to slaughter the animals. Some pelted the vehicles with rocks and shattered their windshields and the workers left without killing any pigs.

“We remind Hosni Mubarak that we are all Egyptians. Where does he want us to go?” said Gergis Faris, a 46-year-old pig farmer in another part of Cairo who collects garbage to feed his animals. “We are uneducated people, just living day by day and trying to make a living, and now if our pigs are taken from us without compensation, how are we supposed to live?”

Most in the Muslim world consider pigs unclean animals and do not eat pork because of religious restrictions. One Islamic militant Web site carried comments Wednesday saying swine flu was God’s revenge against “infidels.”

Pigs are banned entirely in some Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Libya. However in other parts of the Muslim world, they are often raised by religious minorities who can eat pork.

I’m not claiming that the fellow at that Islamic Hate Site is even attempting to exhibit logic… but if he is, follow it! The idiot believes that no Muslim (non-infidel) is going to catch swine flu!

Should we consider him pre-scientific or post-scientific. Ah, what the hell. He’s non-scientific. Let’s leave it at that. “From their words ye shall know them.”
