First, social justice warriors grab another scalp! This time it’s Cinnabon’s, whose advertisement was cute and clever:
….or an absolute outrage, of course.
Sadly, Cinnabon caved within hours and not only took down the tweet, but apologized – http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/people/2016/12/27/cinnabon-tweets-deletes-carrie-fisher-tweet-after-backlash/95893594/
(Sorry, but I cannot [so far] figure out how to make clickable links.)
I often tell people who ask where I live that I’m from “The State of Insanity…..California”. Nothing so clearly illustrates this than the latest excretion from the Left-Liberal Legislature in Sacramento:
California Democrats legalize child prostitution
is the headline in the Washington Examiner.(Got it!)
My first reaction was Nooooooooo – someone is exaggerating! But then, I grew up in California when it was sane, and I’ve not gotten used to the new regime…..in fact, “SB 1322 bars law enforcement from arresting sex workers who are under the age of 18 for soliciting or engaging in prostitution, or loitering with the intent to do so.”
Sadly, the results are predictable – and genuinely terrible, for kids as well as for our society.
NEWS FROM ROME
Finally for this morning, I don’t know how many have been following the news of Pope Francis’ apparent attempts to introduce “Hope and Change” into the Catholic Church, but for many of us (and I’m not even of the Catholic faith), it’s a destructive and abominable effort. My apologies if your opinion is different, but there are always the comments……
So, it was with a great joy that I read a report that Frank’s attempt to silence and isolate the traditionalist Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke by removing him from his former position and making him the head of the Knights of Malta may well have backfired. Apparently, the Knights (strictly speaking, the Sovereign Military Order of the Knights of Malta) are a self-governing group – almost another “state”, like the Vatican state.
The point at issue is that the Knights have cashiered one of their own, because he was overseeing the distribution of condoms in Burma. Regardless of what you or I think of this (fine with me), it’s a violation of the official position of the Church, so the responsible guy was dumped. The Pope thought this was a bad idea, and has appointed a commission to investigate the Knights’ action. And the Sovereign Military Order has told the Pope to mind his own business. Frank may have been hoist on his own petard! If you’re to believe Father Z, peacekeeping forces might be in the future!!
More (perhaps) later…..I’ve got to go shopping!
