The comments are closed on BW’s latest post – I’m not sure why, unless she figures she doesn’t want her e-mail clogged while she’s on vacation. Having written that, now I’m SURE that’s why……so there you are.
Anyhow, here’s a thread for comments on that post….and I’ll start!
I’ve never been to Sweden, but this post rings true for my feelings — the Nobel Prize has poisoned my attitude toward the country and for the Swedes…at least, for the “elites”. I have no idea what small-town Swedes are like, but I’m betting they’re not as State-dependent as the big-city types, which means they’re likely to be nicer people.
And I have no patience for anti-Semitism and general Jew-hatred, so liking Swedes as a group just isn’t in the cards for me. Again, on an individual basis I’m sure I’d find lots of people to like over there….although my general distaste for the country may prevent my ever finding out.
And, if you want old ships dug out of the mud and restored, all you have to do is check out the Mary Rose in Portsmouth, England.
