Abortion extremism, not a 35 year old disgusting racist photo, is what should drive Ralph Northam out of office — posters on that point, plus many more.
Scary Leftists includes so much: MAGA and pussy hats, Democrat presidential candidates, gun grabbing, missing Supreme Court justices, border walls, and more.
The Schumer and Pelosi meme is alive and well at the Bookworm Room, along with lots of immigration posters and other cool and interesting political posters.
I called this the “Trump wall illustrated edition” but it’s also about Stupid Leftists, the Second Amendment, Gender Madness, and Silly Stuff in our world.
Is it possible I had a civil, indeed, delightful conversation with a Progressive about guns because I gave him a vision of himself as an open-minded person?
I had a very nice New Year’s Eve attending a couple of parties. At both parties, of course, I was the only conservative there. I know this because, in my world, people freely trumpet their liberal bona fides, confident that no one present could disagree with them.
One woman I’ve known for almost twenty years — and like a great deal — said that 2018 was one of the worst years of her life because Trump was in the White House. I gently counseled her not to take politics so personally. I didn’t mention that I eschewed public whining during Obama’s eight years, despite thinking them terribly damaging to the country and to my children’s future. I prefer to use my whining and persuasive skills where they might make a difference. Which brings me to the point of this memo, which sees me wondering whether I did make a difference.
To set the scene, I need to explain that, while I’m excellent at solitude, I’m also a very social person. When I go to parties, I don’t just talk to people I know, where conversations revolve heavily around children, work, and vacation. Instead, I also meet new people.
Anyway, one of those new people I met, a man raised in both Europe and America, apropos I can’t remember what, stated that ideally he would like to seize all privately held guns. Rather than bristling and accusing him of being a fascist tyrant, I mildly pointed out that he’d have a hard time doing that with the Second Amendment in place. He responded with the usual: “Well, the Second Amendment applies only to militias.”
This was my opening to tell him — politely — two facts most Progressives don’t know. The first is that all American men are automatically militia members. A man’s automatic membership in the militia was understood as a matter of common law in the colonies before the Revolution and was instantly instituted into American statutes after the revolution. After all, the whole point of the revolution was to get rid of powerful government armies operating on domestic soil and, instead, to make every man the defender of his own liberties.
In addition, I made two other points about the Second Amendment. First, I pointed out that it is the only Amendment in the Bill of Rights dedicated entirely to a single proposition. The other Amendments cover a multitude of issues. Take for example, the First Amendment, which addresses speech, assembly, the press, and religion. Others address broad topics such as criminal justice, police powers, and more. Only the Second Amendment focuses like a laser on a single proposition: A free people’s right to be armed. [Read more…]
The posters I gathered are overwhelmingly about Stupid Leftists and the stupid things they think and do, so this Bookworm Beat will make you laugh and cry.
This Bookworm Beat isn’t actually about new cars. It’s about the Steele Dossier, Islamic terrorism, crazy California, Europe’s coming collapse, & much more.
If you have opinions or information about either of those cars, or about comparable cars, I’m all ears. I’ve already spent time researching and driving the two cars, but I’m somewhat frozen, as is always the case for me before a big expenditure. That freeze seemed to extend to blogging today, but I’m ready to go now.
We always knew it, but know Steele confirms it. It’s been obvious for a long time that the whole Steele dossier, complete with unverified, and impossible to verify, scandalous information about Trump, was a fake. We also learned that Hillary paid for it. For the first time, though, I think Christopher Steele has stated, under oath, precisely why Hillary paid for it:
British ex-spy Christopher Steele, who wrote the Democrat-financed anti-Trump dossier, said in a court case that he was hired by a Democratic law firm in preparation for Hillary Clinton challenging the results of the 2016 presidential election.
He said the law firm Perkins Coie wanted to be in a position to contest the results based on evidence he unearthed on the Trump campaign conspiring with Moscow on election interference.
Let me rephrase that: Hillary paid money for a British man to collude with the Russians by introducing to America disinformation intended to bring down a properly elected American president. Somehow the mainstream media keeps missing the biggest scandal in the history of American elections.
Oakland Muslim assures everyone it was a joke. Sometimes we’re told that murderous Muslims are insane . . . and sometimes we’re told that they have senses of humor so deep and refined that ordinary people just can’t understand them when they joke about killing 10,000 people in the Bay Area and, in fact, try to work with ISIS to make it happen: [Read more…]
There are substantive jokes in this Bookworm Beat, but the masses of silly stuff go first, before the 2nd Amendment, Stupid Leftists, immigration, etc.
Nothing says Christmas like Leftists going crazy over a Christmas song, plus a whole lot more in superb political and social posters.
When I was trying to figure out the common threat for this illustrated edition, I saw that it was that most of these posters involve Leftists being naughty.
Another Bookworm Beat looking at the daily news, including the daily propaganda from former news outlets, all of which is endlessly fascinating
It’s not Trump’s foibles, but the media’s failures, that account for his low numbers. NeverTrumpers, looking at the chasm between Trump’s out-sized positive accomplishments in areas that matter to conservatives and to ordinary Americans, are inclined to blame Trump’s out-sized personality for his poor ratings. I disagree. The problem is definitely the media. In the old days, media outlets led with news: the economy did this, this happened overseas, the president struck this trade deal, etc. It was solid stuff of the type that’s boring to children and adolescents, but that kept the American public generally informed about their country’s health.
In the Trump era, the news is “mean girl” stuff aimed straight at children and adolescents. Whether on TV or in the print/online media, front page news has almost nothing to do with old-fashioned reporting and everything to do with breathlessly maligning Trump for saying this or that. His grammar, his clothes, his stumbles, his past . . . all are reported with breathless enthusiasm, as if any of that matters to the heartbeat of a nation that once stood astride the world like a colossus.
Because ordinary people — the ones who scan the front page and aren’t wedded to information the way we political junkies are — hear only the mean-girl bitch gossip, and are entirely unaware of the actual news, they’re incapable of judging Trump on his accomplishments as president. All that they can do is judge him by the carefully calibrated, low, extremely vicious standards of adolescent gossip.
The Founders venerated a free media, one that they envisioned having outlets representing all sorts of political views, because they thought this freedom and intellectual variety informed the citizenry and stood as a bulwark against government tyranny. They could never have imagined a monolithic, one-party media machine that turned its back on actual reporting and confined itself entirely to savage personal attacks on a political figure. There’s more in here than just border invasion posters, but gosh! the border invasion posters are really good (and so is all the other stuff).
Because I’m a small target, Twitter is the perfect Samizdat vehicle to pass on news about Leftist insanity — news I later develop here, at Bookworm Room
Why I’m still on Twitter. Even as Glenn Reynolds has backed off of Twitter, many of you have probably noticed that I’ve seriously escalated my Twitter use. This is not because I see Twitter as an effective forum for debate. Indeed, I too am horrified by the way in which Twitter is shutting down any non-Progressive ideas while refusing ever to censor Proggies, no matter how often or blatantly they violate Twitter’s ostensible rules. But….
I am currently staying on Twitter for two reasons. The first is because I’m not yet willing to let Twitter run me off. I’m a little gal and it’s not paying attention to me, so I still have room to say with impunity verboten things such as “there are two genders” or “Bruce Jenner and Bradley Manning” or “Michelle Obama is a singularly mean and angry woman.” As such, I feel a little like a Samizdat Twitter activist, still able to make noise while Twitter goes after the bigger targets.
The second reason I’m still on Twitter is that I’ve discovered that it’s a very useful way for me to store articles or ideas that I later want to blog about. Over the years, I’ve tried capturing those articles in Word files, bookmarking them in my web browser, or even noting them down on paper. No system, however, has worked as well for me as just scanning my Twitter feed. Indeed, I’m very sorry I didn’t figure this out ten years ago, rather than a few months ago. So as long as Twitter is a useful repository for things that interest me, I’m inclined to keep going with it.
And speaking of things that interest me…. [Read more…]
Stupid Leftists — whether they are being stupid on micro or macro levels — are the gifts that never stop giving for my illustrated edition posts.
As we give thanks this Veteran’s Day for our vets both past and present, please remember too that we on the home front must preserve what they fought for.
