Conservatives deal with facts and reach conclusions; liberals have conclusions and sell them as facts.
One of the things making the rounds on my “real me” Facebook is a poster claiming that Bush signed off on many more executive orders than did Obama. Since the poster is obviously out of date (not to mention the fact that it compares Bush’s 8 year term to Obama’s
Continue readingI didn’t watch Obama’s SOTU. Between cooking and carpooling, I had neither the time nor the inclination. I’ve never been impressed by “Obama the Orator,” and his speech’s details had already been leaked, so the whole thing fell into the “Why Bother?” category. I did hear one interesting thing about
Continue readingIt turns out that someone I’ve known for yours is, in fact, a conservative. We were both pleasantly surprised to find that we had that in common. He recently forwarded me an email with two telling sentences. I’ve seen both of these wandering around the internet, but for some reason
Continue readingOn the day before Obama gives his annual State of the Union address, this may well be the meanest commercial I’ve ever seen about him (not that I’m complaining): Hat tip: PowerLine
Continue readingLast night, I spent a few minutes watching Robin Williams’ 1981 appearance (his first) on Johnny Carson’s tonight show. It was very weird to look at it over a distance of 33 years. I remember watching it in real-time back in 1981, and thinking Williams was the funniest man I’d
Continue readingOne of the problems I find myself having lately when writing about both Barack Obama, the man, and President Obama, America’s CEO, is my lousy memory, which goes blank when I try to pull up useful information about him. He’s been connected with so many scandals that I can’t keep
Continue readingI have lots of intelligent thoughts swirling in my head. The problem is that they haven’t settled down and become coherent. Mostly, I’m focused on an upcoming outing with my mother. My mother is an inveterate shopper. At almost 91, shopping isn’t just the main pleasure in her life, it’s
Continue readingObama doesn’t like the Jews and the Jews don’t trust Obama. From the “Jews don’t trust Obama” file comes Jonathan Tobin’s excellent analysis, which ends with this compelling paragraph: The United States seems to be retreating from the Middle East, a position that frightens many Arabs as well as the
Continue readingWere you surprised to read that Obama would never let his hypothetical Trayvon Martin look-alike son play pro football? I wasn’t. The only thing that surprised me was Obama’s fantasy that he could possibly have a son who would play pro football. I mean, come on, folks! We’re talking about
Continue readingIn the wake of almost daily revelations about the scope of domestic spying during Obama’s watch, his apologists are scrambling to explain away an unavoidable truth about the difference between Obama, the successful presidential candidate, and Obama, the president of the United States who has been spying in just about
Continue readingBefore you start hammering away at me, let me explain what I mean about my claim that the sacrifice the SEALS and their rescuers made during Operation Red Wings was indeed a waste. I am referring, of course, to Jake Tapper’s asking Marcus Luttrell whether his comrades died in vain.
Continue readingCitizen Obama used to oppose government spying. President Obama, of course, has enlarged the NSA’s scope dramatically on his watch. President Obama was therefore very upset when Citizen Edward Snowden decided to reveal just how much our cool, hip president is spying on his own people. (Incidentally, I’m of two
Continue readingTacitus (of the Romans): “They make a desert and call it peace.” Iran (on its dealings with Obama): “Our relationship w/ the world is based on Iranian nation’s interests. In #Geneva agreement world powers surrendered to Iranian nation’s will.” Barack Obama (on his dealings with Iranians): “What we want to
Continue readingIt turns out that a long-time friend of mine is related by marriage to Matt Axelson, who died during Operation Redwings. As you recall, Marcus Luttrell memorialized Operation Redwings in Lone Survivor: The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10. A movie based upon
Continue readingWinter break this year was very pleasant. As I may have written before, while I’m not a big fan of small children, I really like teenagers, especially the teenagers my kids bring home. We live in a tight-knit community and my house is often a gathering spot for the kids
