Conservatives deal with facts and reach conclusions; liberals have conclusions and sell them as facts.
So far this morning, I’ve been running around in the house. Now, I have to leave to run around outside of the house. I hope to blog at around mid-day, but until then, three articles to give you food for thought and then an invitation to use this Open Thread
Continue readingThis is one of those days where my day totally didn’t go as planned . . . but for good reasons. How often can one say that? Plans or no plans, though, the news marches on and there’s so much interesting stuff I want to share with you. *** When
Continue readingI pulled up my usual morning reads and found some excellent stuff I’d like to share with you. American Thinker gets four shout-outs this morning. Really. Its content today was that good. *** Maybe I’m imagining it, but I do think James Lewis has put together a must-read summary about
Continue readingThe Taliban has hit Marin County (indirectly). Marin County is headquarters for Roots of Peace, an admirable charity that seeks to advance agricultural development in poverty-stricken areas. It has an outpost in Afghanistan, where it seeks to enable the Afghani people to feed themselves. The Taliban can’t have that kind
Continue readingI’m off crutches — hurrah! — for the first time in a month and a half. It’s wonderful to be free of them. I used them as awkwardly and inelegantly on the last day as I did on the first, something that was both frustrating and painful. Today I’m learning
Continue readingThoughtful Jews are increasingly thinking one thought: the notion of a two-state solution is ridiculous. Moshe Philips and Benyamin Korn explain why it’s ridiculous. It seems, though, that people are finally waking up to the fact that there’s a
Continue readingWhew! I was quite productive today. I think those iron pills I’ve been taking because of mild anemia have helped. I felt much less sluggish. I still have a lot of stuff in my inbox, but these articles are a good start: The always-astute Lee Smith has a surprising take
Continue readingI took my mother to the doctor and the bank today, she on her walker and I on my crutches. It was physically tiring for me, partly because the crutches exacerbate a shoulder problem and partly because I had to get my mom and her walker in and out of
Continue readingIt’s time for my car’s smog check. I’ll be gone a couple of hours, so I hope this Open Thread more than adequately compensates for my absence.
Continue readingYesterday, I was in a blogging frenzy. Today? Not so much…. I’m a little depleted after having spent more than an hour trying to reach someone at the Social Security administration to resend my mother’s tax info, which had gotten lost in the mail. The first half hour was spent
Continue readingCaped Crusader sent me a rash of wonderful internet posters. Not only are they good on their own, they tie in so well with points we’ve discussed in the past:
Continue readingFor those of us who believe in free speech, the antidote to bad speech isn’t censorship, it’s good speech. The problem for France, which is trying to censor an antisemitic, pro-Nazi “comic”, is that it has no good speech to counter the antisemitism that is breeding in France’s toxic stew
